Diablo III goes on a killstreak with Season 19, now live

With quite a ways to go until Diablo IV hits the scene, Diablo III will need to feed the insatiable hunger for loot piñatas for the foreseeable future. And while the ARPG’s expansion days may be well behind it, Diablo III is still cranking out new seasons to keep its community busy.

To wit, Season 19 of the game went live this past week with a focus on killstreaks. “Inspired by the war waged between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells, you‘ll earn increasingly powerful effects as you unleash destruction upon your foes,” Blizzard said. “So rack up those kills and clear the battlefields in the name of Sanctuary!”

Players will enjoy a pandemonium buff during this season that will speed them up and increase their damage output. As they hit greater killstreak milestones, the battlefield will transform in various ways, such as corpses raining from the sky and exploding chickens flapping your way looking for revenge.

The season has two new cosmetic rewards (such as the angelic treasure goblin pet), the ability to earn more stash tabs, and more class gear. Blizzard is introducing new class sets across the board with this patch, and Barbarians will see a lot of changes to their gear.

I’d like a season/league (PoE’s at least as bad as D3 on this) that isn’t all about speed.

I just can’t bring myself into playing this game anymore.

Yeah the season grind got tiring after a point. It’s basically just the same formula: grind to 70, figure out what OP build you can start working towards, start steamrolling until you hit a point where you can’t steamroll anymore, keep inching that build up so you can kill things faster than they can kill you.

I also did Hardcore characters so basically once I’d hit a wall where I get instakilled by unforseeable BS it’s just like, “yep, that was a waste of time”.

You just described pretty much all arpgs.

never understood people who play these garbage games…

“wow I just got an arbitrary upgrade so I can play on a higher difficulty”…yawn

Marvel Heroes was kind of fun mostly because of the ‘collection’ aspect and you had incentives to level every hero you could. That and it had pseudo-MMO elements.

Meh that the only difference between seasons is cosmetic rewards. Id like to see it like Project Ascension seasons. Every time something new and cool that makes leveling experience fresh

To be fair they added 2 new Class Armor sets which is 2 more than any Tier sets Blizzard introduced in the past year for World of Warcraft; this opened up roughly 4 new builds one of which a Crusader build is pretty fricking OP this season (which is fine by me since I like playing the Judge Dread version of the Paladin that D3 has).

And you have to reach max level to acquire them? So nothing new during leveling :/

The kill streak thing I guess, leveling is the quickest thing that happens in this game most of the actual game play happens after level 70.

From what I hear, the d3 dev team is a single person so this is actually quite a big update all things considered
