Grim Dawn’s massive 1.1.5.0 update adds a roguelike dungeon and over 6000 item changes

The newest update to Grim Dawn is being touted in the changelog as the largest the game has ever seen, and with tweaks to over 6,000 items that appears to be no small boast. Update 1.1.5.0 has made lots of itemization changes as well as opened up the gates to its new roguelike Tomb of the Heretic dungeon. Oh yeah, and put certain other online ARPGs to shame. Ahem.

The itemization changes are so extensive that most adjustments can’t even be put on the patch notes, but the shorthand version is that Epic items got a buffing, Rare affixes got some upward adjustment, and common weapons were tweaked to provide a better sense of progression between tiers; ultimately, players should see increased damage and a smaller gap between common and Legendary weapons at max level.

The update also introduces the new Tomb of the Heretic dungeon that’s been hyped up for some time. Players can look forward to 12 new bosses and mini-bosses, four new Monster Infrequents, eight new Epic items, and 18 Legendary items that are wholly unique to the Tomb, which is up from the 15 that were originally announced.

If you’ve got some time, you can scour the lengthy patch notes for more details, and if you’re after tunes, check out our recent Jukebox Heroes on the game, which conveniently plucked out the best songs from the score.

It really does put other Arpg’s to shame when it comes to their updates. And the game can be modded. The legendary adjustments are epic but all the gear fixes are just as good. Going to start that new dungeon tonight. Saw images of the new gear you get and I really have to give props to whoever is designing them they look so badass. One even kind of gives a nod to the helm from the Skyrim dragon hunter in the old trailer.

any must have mods out there?

They have all kinds on the nexus site. Some make the game harder. The quality of life stuff would be the most important if you need them. The dev team even added some of them into the game and gave the mod makers credit for it.

I wanted to like this game so much, but the console-style twitch gameplay discouraged me. I especially disliked how each boss has a style pattern you must practice and practice until you beat it.

Don’t stand in the circles. In this game when you fight a boss you have to keep moving or your toast.

Eh I fired up my reaper and played a little today. Game didn’t feel remarkably different. As usual my guy curb stomps most things in ultimate and then WHAM… One-shot by something.

Best ARPG around..hands down.

You cannot question the teams commitment to the game. Huge chunks of free content like this

It’s a shame that there won’t be anymore expansions though, how ever at least we’re still getting content updates.

Since its Microsoft does it run a version of Windows, if so I wonder if there’s a way to port it over?

They have been working on porting it since mid 2018 but they want the game to be complete when they release it on Xbox so it keeps getting pushed back. I think in July or August they said that they are still very much working on it. It was around the time the Forgotten Gods expansion came out

It is complete though, Crate said they were done developing expansions.

Sure but I think they are waiting for all these major content updates as well. I am hoping for the game next year but at this point may see if I can get on a steam sale.
