Job postings point to an incoming Unreal Engine upgrade for Lineage II

Hey, you know what the MMORPG world needs? Another version of Lineage II! This one, however, doesn’t appear to be another wholesale mobile version of the game so much as a full-on engine upgrade a la Blade & Soul’s visual boost.

A job posting shared this past Friday from NCSoft in Korea is looking for a technical artist for L2:Remastered. This technical artist should reportedly be familiar with all of the usual trade tools like Maya and 3DS Max, but also must be familiar with Unreal Engine 4. This upgrade could prove to be an involved once, since the original Lineage II was released in 2003 and ran on UE 2.5.

Considering the date of the job posting, it’s likely we won’t hear much about L2:Remastered anytime soon, either for the Korean or western markets. At least we know it’s a thing, if nothing else, but seriously, guys, just make a third game already.
