Pearl Abyss has officially done it: It’s launched Black Desert on four total platforms now, three of them this year, now that Black Desert Mobile is officially out the door on iOS and Android for the 4.5 million of you who pre-registered.

“Pearl Abyss today launched the free-to-play open-world action MMORPG, Black Desert Mobile, now available globally on iOS and Android devices. Black Desert Mobile generated a strong player response with more than 4.5M pre-registrations following successful launches in Korea, Japan, Taiwan and the recent soft-launch in seven additional countries. Features include action-packed combat, a deep character customization system, and high graphical fidelity based on Pearl Abyss’ proprietary engine. The Black Desert franchise has more than 20 million players on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation®4 and mobile platforms.”

Here’s a peek at all our coverage to date; if you just want to read one thing, make it Carlo’s preview! Both he and Andrew previewed the game during its development and reaaaally liked it, and let’s be honest, that is not common for mobile MMOs at all. “This game is worth the wait, especially for Black Desert fans,” Carlo, our regular BDO columnist, wrote in October. “This is a mobile game, but it plays like it belongs on a console. This is groundbreaking mobile game design.”

Just an FYI, this game has controller support. It helps alleviate the carpel tunnel.

“Global” launch… Red text translates to item is not available in your country. Are there lootboxes in this game? Because we’re pretty strict on those here.

Tinkering around and I’m not seeing proper auto-combat yet, but at least it has autorun to quest.

Kinda enjoying it so far, it’s SUPER pretty. We’ll see how this one turns out.

You have to play to the point that the auto-combat unlocks and auto-combat in BDMobile is intentionally sub-optimal vs doing it yourself. The combos are similar to the console versions. I loved the combat in the SEA one and this feels the same so far.

Oh nice, thanks for the heads up. I got no problem for sub-optimal play while I’m functionally idle. I can pick it up for “serious” play, but as long as I can see my character being pretty and killing things while I’m playing another game or watching TV, I’m happy.

It’s better than I expected, and it doesn’t make my phone run hot and seems to be able to run for 6-7 hours on a full charge according to my phone’s gaming mode.
