Magic Legends shows off 10 minutes of the fiery Geomancer

As Magic Legends fans come to terms with the fact that this upcoming title is really Magic: The Diabloing, Cryptic continues its promised info dump of what the game is and how it functions. It might actually be very helpful and wise at this point to show off so much gameplay so as to set expectations right for this MMOARPG.

As part of that effort and in strange collaboration with Gamestop promotional publication Game Informer, Cryptic released over 10 minutes of the Geomancer in action. The Geomancer is more of a build than a specific class, as Magic Legends allows for flexible build-swapping.

The Geomancer build is an in-your-face Red mage that loves to run right up to bad guys and trigger explosive and eruptive area-of-effect attacks. Damage, and lots of it, is Red’s specialty, and you can see that in effect below.

This game does not qualify as an mmorpg, it is a Diablo clone. If you look at the website they have removed all references to mmorpg that where previously there.

Looking pretty good compared to what I was expecting. Who knows, this might actually get me into Mt:G.

My theory is they had a real MMO in development along with a mobile game. The MMO was a dumpster fire so they turned the mobile game into a PC game (with a mobile version to follow).

Anytime I see 4 button UIs I pretty much 100% immediately assume it’s designed for console. ABXY? Literally console buttons. They’re probably going to shotgun this baby out onto every platform they can to maximize player base/profitability.

Yeah, that makes sense. I don’t think they really have any good devs left anyway so mobile must be the way to go, right?

I mostly like what I see so far, especially for alpha version gameplay

It looks like a fine actiony game but other than using the names from Magic it doesnt’y look very CCG’ish.

One must remember – for every decent MTG game – there are 10 bad ones. Arena ensures bad Magic video games for quite some time.
