ARK: Survival Evolved has now delayed the Genesis DLC to February 25

When I went back digging through our ARK: Survival Evolved content, I was absolutely shocked that the last big announcement was for the Genesis DLC – in August of last year. Studio Wildcard has had its plate full with other titles, of course (though a cursory glance at Atlas’ website shows not a whole lot of movement on that front either).

Genesis was meant to launch in two parts, the first in December. That obviously did not happen. Wildcard’s top brass has now put the first chunk of Genesis for February 25th, rolling out simultaneously on PC and console.

“This additional delay will no doubt come as a disappointment to everyone who is eagerly awaiting Genesis,” Wildcard writes. “We’re extremely sorry to push it back an extra month, but as we have been heads-down with the rest of the team polishing, balancing and putting the final pieces together, we really felt that the extra wait will be worth it both for the quality of the base game and the ambitious new expansion.”

In the meantime, ARK is talking up its Valentine’s day events and planning a wipe of the PvP legacy servers tomorrowday.

To be honest given that it’s Wildcard it’s probably best they take as much time as they can to try to polish it all up. Can’t think of a single big expansion where things weren’t broke as all hell.

Given that they missed their original “barely even a guess” launch date by three months, I’m expecting Genesis Part 2 to be released (and probably only half finished) sometime in 2022. :(

I like Ark, and I still play it. I don’t trust the devs as far as my goldfish could throw them. (Either fish, or even both working together.)

I’m an Ark fan, but only because of the mods and private servers. The company is poorly run and their communication is a new low in gaming companies in general. I wish they would wise up and start doing DLCs like Conan with building/armor weapon/ features for less money but more content and then do a big new map with more realistic timelines instead of using pre-orders to raise funds and over promise and under deliver bugged content. Also, update your 2014 engine to a better version of UE4. This might prevent some of your issues and give fans the game they thought you were giving them when this first launched.
