Fallout 76’s Wastelanders update will finally launch on April 7 – here’s the new trailer

Oh yeah, and it's finally dropping on Steam, too

As it turns out, the Wastelanders delay from 2019 to 2020 wasn’t just a brief one: Bethsoft announced this morning that Fallout 76’s big free update is finally releasing on April 7th. It’ll hit PC and console simultaneously, and maybe more importantly, it’ll roll out on Steam at the same time so folks who somehow missed all the drama since 2018 can jump in and join up. The content lineup looks about the same as when it was announced at E3 last year:

New Main Quest and Revamped Original Main Quest – Uncover the secrets of West Virginia by playing through an all-new main quest as well as a revamped original main quest line – with friends or solo – starting from the moment you leave Vault 76. New and veteran players alike will take on new missions, explore new locations and fight with (or against) the new faces that have made their long-awaited return to West Virginia.

Human NPCs – Befriend or betray new neighbors who have come to rebuild, and experience Appalachia through the eyes of its residents.

New Creatures and Gear – Take down newly mutated creatures finding their way to the region and earn the highest tier of weapons and armor.

Choices and Reputation – Alter the fates of those you meet with classic dialogue trees. Decisions affect your standing with each faction through an all-new reputation system.

As promised, there’s a new trailer too:

So, just like every other Elder Scrolls game? :)

… (ba-dum-tsh! Thank you, i’m here all day, i’ll see myself out now.)

… but seriously, every TES game has been a bug-riddled mess until modders fix it for Bethesda. I’m not touching Fallout 76 until it’s been opened up to people who actually care about the game. For TES6, i’m just hoping it won’t be online garbage like this is.

I still wont buy it, im saving my money for fallout 5, and only if there is absolutely no online component and mod control.

Not sure I want to rage quit…uninstall for the 3rd time.

Wake me up when it’s in the steam bargain bin.

Darn, guess Jim Sterling and others will have to just keep kicking Warcraft 3 Reforged ’til then.

On a more serious note hope it goes well, because it sounds/looks potentially very promising, but historically that hasn’t really been the case so far with most new updates…

Oh, this is going to be so good.

And i don’t mean the game.

I am flabbergasted i saw a few people saying “i’m gonna be there day one”.

WHY OF ALL THINGS WOULD A BETHESDA GAME, LET ALONE FALLOUT 76 BE SOMETHING YOU GET IN LINE DAY ONE FOR. HOW IN THE NAME OF FUCK DO YOU EXPECT A BUG FREE LAUNCH EXPERIENCE FROM THIS GAME AND THIS STUDIO IN 2020?

It’s also not day one, it’s day fivehundredandthirtytwo. I guess it doesn’t roll off the tongue the same way though…

I mean, I’ll be there on day one, but it’s because I anticipate I will still be playing the game in April.

Because it is fun, not what you want to hear I know but doesn’t change the fact some of us found fun in this game despite the issues and continue to do so.

Err, we who regularly play well know and understand this, we’ve learned to laugh in spite of it all.
