I actually got tears in my eyes watching that Mark Jacobs stream. I’m surprised anyone still wants to become a game developer, considering the grief and heartache social media will rain down on them for the decisions they make.

Justin’s going on vacation?! I’m pretty sure that means the industry is going to have a meltdown this week.

First of all; Congratulations for making it to 5 years.

A response to the question that was asked in the podcast about the $5 Patreon backers?

Do I back just to get the podcast 1 day earlier?
No.

I backed the Kickstarter and the Patreon because ;-

  1. Old Massively and new MassivelyOP cover games that arn’t getting the coverage or attention they deserve. MXO (past) and Elite: Dangerous (present).
  2. I’m used to paying more than my sub a month for a dead tree gaming magazine and the coverage here is a lot better for my favourite games
  3. I do find the podcast invaluable and urge you to keep it going, although I’m not as bothered about getting it an hour earlier.

If you folks are coming over for a Frontier Expo or when the 2020 Elite: Dangerous update is released; look us up at Lave Radio Podcast. (The original Elite: Dangerous podcast that’s been going for the last seven years) because we will be there and we’ll buy you a Lavian Brandy.

The CSE segment made me wish more studios were able to put out sincere apologies followed up by action to support their apology.

I’ve long compared my enjoyment of this podcast to how I enjoy Youtube/Twitch: A good part of it is about the personalities. Content is a big factor too, but don’t underestimate the enjoyment people get out of becoming familiar with your opinions and quirks. It’s a comfortable weekly routine, for me at least.

I can also understand why that can be uncomfortable to think about. Kudos to you for putting yourselves out there like that and making it work well.

Nice to know us UK folk get the shaft once again with PSO2. One of the few MMO’s that I genuinely wanted to play as well.

Same here in AUS, keen to play, but ugh.
Apparently it’s not IP region locked, so if you change your console region to USA or CAD, you can download the client, then switch the console back and it should work if you boot it up. Didn’t get a chance to test it though.

Thanks for talking about Camelot unchained. I think Mark Jacobs is a quality act, I have been following him from the Dark Age of Camelot days. He has faced alot of adversity, and he is passionate about his products he always has been.
I think people seem to forget about the debacle that was Warhammer. This experience has no doubt colored his experience, so I get his not wanting to push the product out before its ready. Warhammer was not ready and he was no doubt forced to push it out the door. Dark Age of Camelot launched with dungeons not even itemized and done.
I do think they have thought about launching two games, the backlash in my mind is ridiculous. But, again the guy came out and apologized. This is going to be his Magnum Opus and the passion he feels is real. He is out putting his own name to it, in the days of people distancing themselves over every little faux pas. He is analogizing, so lets try to cut him so slack. This game will come out when its ready. Its not vaporware, this engine is working and i hope the thousand man battles are not going to be an Eve only thing.
Thanks again Justin and Bree, your grounded responses are so nice to see in this age of lets just string everbody up when they stumble.

And you know what, he’s going to put out two complete games, showcasing some new technological hurdles, before Star Citizen is even out of prototype … Er I mean “alpha” stage.
