WRUP: Three directors whom I suspect of filling my personal belongings with mayonnaise edition

Sir Ridley Scott: On five separate occasions I have seen Sir Ridley Scott running away from my mailbox with mayonnaise dripping down his chin and flipping me the double bird. While my mailbox remains unmolested after these incidents, I have inevitably found my outdoor grill to be cleaned of all loose charcoal and instead completely filled with a yellowish mayonnaise. I have done nothing to Sir Ridley Scott to warrant this behavior.

Jon Watts: While Jon Watts has not made his presence felt directly on my property, I have come out to find my mailbox filled with mayonnaise numerous times, and on each occasion there has been either a crumpled piece of notepad paper reading “From the desk of Jon Watts” within or a napkin with a phone number signed “Jon Watts.” My mail is unrecoverable. The post office thinks I am doing this to myself. I sit up at night and cry.

Rob Reiner: When it was only Sir Ridley Scott I was willing to let this go, but yesterday Rob Reiner burst into my home with two jars of Hellman’s Mayonnaise, ran up the stairs of my home, and smashed both jars into my upstairs sink. He then proceeded to beat his chest for two minutes before running out of my house to a moped being driven by Sir Ridley Scott. I am not sure why this is happening or whether they are mad or trying to be kind. Please leave your answers in What Are You Playing.

Bonus question: What’s your favorite theme song from a television series?

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): I’m pretty excited about Pokemon Go’s rocket event. Things have been pretty interesting lately between how Shadow Pokemon have been reworked and how their built in arena league’s been unfolding. I’ve also gotten back into Pokemon Sword since Pokemon Home has allowed me to reclaim some Pokemon from past games (oh Shiny Gengar, how I missed you!).

Bonus Question: The first theme song from One-Punch Man! It’s so perfect for the anime. It’s uplifting but depressing, funny but honest, energetic but sung by older JRock stars. It’s also one of the only Japanese songs I could kiind of get through during karaoke at one point. It came in handy while driving home a favored (but drunk) coworker once who suddenly felt like we had to karaoke that specific song while I was driving on the freeway. Man, maybe I should practice that again this weekend at some point.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I’m back in City of Heroes, fam. Probably be playing my Staff/Rad a bit more and my masterminds. I’ll also definitely be dipping into Star Wars Galaxies Legends because I am really struggling keeping my vendors fully stocked with the influx of new players buying everything up. It’s a good problem to have!

For the bonus… everything that is popping to mind is tripping my annoyance wire – like Game of Thrones. Amazing concept for an intro; very annoying music.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Usual Final Fantasy XIV stuff, maybe a little single-player gaming, I’m honestly a bit up in the air at the moment. Need to actually sit down and invest myself in a project again, if we’re being realistic.

It’s kind of crazy that Bear McCreary composed an amazing opening theme for Defiance and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. basically back-to-back, but he did it. I like those opening themes. Not that it really matters, because we already know what the absolute best television program opening of all time looks like. (The second-best opening is, of course, the Batman: The Animated Series opening.)

Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I’ve been roaring back into World of Warcraft: Classic with a brand-new Gnome Warlock. Something about the older design feels more comfortable and engaging than the modern client, so it’s nice to explore that for now. Other than that, I am adventuring through Rohan on Lord of the Rings Online’s progression server and enjoying a smattering of Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Samon Kashani (@thesamkash): Shadow Arena is on the menu this weekend folks! I think Carlo and I are looking at a future esport championship. Maybe.

I’ve had the original Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon song stuck in my head for a couple weeks now. Too fast for the naked eye, Sonic the Hedgehog!

Tyler Edwards: Hoping to finish up the campaign in Wolcen soon. I definitely want to start over with an alt or two at some point, but I might wait for the promised round of polish and bug fixes. We’ll see. I’m also probably going to dip into Star Trek Online for the new event, and I have plenty of other games to get to in my backlog. Finally bought NieR: Automata on a Steam flash sale the other day, among other options.

Bonus question: Hmm, it’s probably a tie between Futurama and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Poe reset (I gotta stop doing this).. Who knows maybe I am “lucky” to be quarantined from work, so I have the time this one requires.
Or maybe play with something more serious, and see what cool stuff I can make in SpatialOS.
Bonus q: intro song to True Blood is pretty nice

I’m checking out Crusader Kings 2 this week. Seems like a suuuuper indepth kingdom management game that’ll require a lot of trial and error to figure out, but so far i’m digging it.

Wherefore Scorcese?

I’ve been playing these old standbys:

Vendetta Online – ahh, the thrill of the hunt

Distance – it’s art, OK?

Elder Scrolls Legends – watch out, it’s addictive

I just today got Master of Orion 2 and Nanosaur 2 for my 6yo son… although I might have a little fun in both.

As I am without internet except on my phone for the time being I am spending gaming time the old school way with my PS2 playing Lord of the Rings The Third Age, it’s a lot of fun, but really missing mmo’s, but gratitude for any good game, online or not. Favourite TV show theme song: The A Team, second place original Battlestar Galactica.

My weekend now consists of Fridays and Saturdays so no more awkwardness trying to guess what I foresee myself doing many days later.

FFXIV is still my primary game but I am starting to kind of pull up a few other games again to take a peek in them, namely ESO. Going to poke into Warframe was well to at least grab the anniversary goodies. In FFXIV I’m kind of just doing whatever I feel like right now, which as of yesterday was attempting to grind Triple Triad Roulette wins (have to get 1,000 freaking wins for the Gold Saucer meta-title…) and work some more on Chocobo Racing. Just retired my most recent racer to breed a Pedigree 6 chocobo, so I’m slowly getting there to Pedigree 9. Also gotta get those tomestones and weekly Eden 8 in. Beyond that, some HotS with the boys when our schedules align.

blah blazh

I’m back to playing single player games. I just don’t seem to have much desire to play MMOs at the moment. Although I am logging into BDO every day, the anniversary event has some nice items to get. As for the actual games that I’m playing, I got Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate for real cheap the other day for the PC. I’ve played it a long time ago on the PS4 but only the base game. For the PC, I got all of the DLC’s for it. I really like the time period and playing Evie feels like an actual assassin as compared to the main characters in Origins and Odyssey.

Bonus question:

Just had to add that although this wasn’t a tv series, this is the best theme ever.

  • Wizards Unite – Couldn’t finish the Valentines’ event bonus quests! So as usual, I sulked a bit and barely played. On top of that, I was really sick for days and missed those days except for login rewards. Might try to pick things up again this week as I feel better and its increasingly nicer out.
  • Magia Record, Brave Exvius, Another Eden, Magikarp Splash, Alter Ego, Arknights, Dx2 (Shin Megami Tensei) – Less Magikarp Splash, and I dropped Alter Ego since I finally maxed out on everything except for the 2 DLC stories which are more like donation rewards than anything substantial (and I can check them out online) – so it will be off the list. I wanted to progress other games but I’ve been occupied.
  • Last Cloudia – Continuing the current event and building a 2nd team. Supposedly this month will bring new main story? Or other things. I’m turning into a blandly regular player of this game and it looks like it’ll continue until the devs do something entirely stupid or shut it down. They keep coming close, like putting in an auto-restart for battles but initially trying to put it entirely behind a recurring paywall… why can’t they just set a time/battle limit for F2Pers? Thankfully they backtracked. Maybe with auto-restart I can actually tolerate grinding.
  • Dragon Quest of the Stars – New (old to Japan) gacha that … I find surprisingly fun? Especially for how I’ve been annoyed by the ‘real’ Dragon Quest games in the past? Its full of trying to sell me things, but I don’t have to gacha characters, and there’s something of a silly adventure there that doesn’t look totally lazy (even if copypaste of the basics of DQ). I’m enjoying, and I might play more than daily logins, though my phone is being so filled with these games that I don’t even have the space for Seven Deadly Sins gacha recently released… but I’ll be looking into that. The story feels just DQ enough, for better or worse.
  • SWTOR – We continued Coruscant together, I’d guess he’s 1/3-1/2 the main story, while I take time to be more completionist in catching up to him. No rush, but we haven’t dropped the game either. Wishing EA gets on their cloud gaming release and its cheap/free to stream SWTOR on max settings. Maybe tonight I’ll rush ahead and do the rest of the planet :O
  • Pikuniku – At a friend’s I tried this ridiculous game out and while its a little too much ‘lol made by millennials rofl’, I had a smile on my face the whole time. Here’s to a future Epic Games giveaway of it.

So silly:

Not representative:

Also, been an obsessive about American Democratic primary (forever, but especially the last week) and coronovirus (since Jan, sort of) for a while, if that counts as ‘playing’.

Looking forward to Wolcen and No Man’s Sky this weekend.

I don’t have a TV, although I did have growing up and for a while in the 90s. Missed almost all of the 70s and 80s on TV. However, using the Way Back Machine, I have no trouble finding one of my childhood favorites, which probably doomed me to playing heroes as an adult:

Hikari Kenzaki

We finished up the TD2 content pre-expansion.

Playing The Division 1 and some Star Citizen and Frogwares’ Sherlock Holmes games is likely to continue.

I feel, while not a theme song, this is one of the best uses of a theme of something else in a TV show. This scene is just perfect.

I do hear this often when playing space games though.

Other than that, testing new patch and and maybe try out the Dead Frontier 2 Open World mode.

To note: That was originally theme song opening for the movie Flash Gorden back in the day. o.O

Hikari Kenzaki

Oh, I’m more than old enough to know that. Which is why I said theme of something else.

Hikari Kenzaki

In point of fact, the first time I watched that I may or may not have jumped out of my chair and yelled “Go Flash Go!”

Bunch of time in FFXIV, Megaman Zero aka best Megaman collection and paintings taken up a lot of my time but i’ve also been pretty sick and on hard medication for the first time in my life so i’ve been kind of away from my desk/consoles for the most part.

Now let me tell you about how i’ve wasted most of the week playing Rune Factory 4 Special. Imagine Stardew Valley but better basically. Its a former nintendo handheld exclusive series that spun off from Harvest Moon. The devs tried making a farming jrpg rather than life sim and as you might expect it kind of exploded and become one of those handheld titles in the 2000’s like Etrian Odyysey or Monster Hunter that the mainstream had no idea about but its dedicated fans were reaaaal dedicated.

They finally put the 4th out in the west but as a special edition on the Switch rather than 3DS. One more IP released from 15 year old hardware and boy is it fun. You have your planting, watering, harvesting and selling loop from Harvest Moon or Stardew but then you can craft weapons and gear and go and explore a large world with dungeons and boss fights that is a lot closer to Secret of Mana than Harvest Moon. Theres a lot more interactions with townsfolk, way more customisation and the story is pretty simple for jrpgs but it is a complete story rather than most farming sims “okay year 3 i basically automated infinite money and have nothing to do”. I hit lvl.60 in the 6th in game week and found areas that are magically stuck in each season so you have extra fields in each of those to grow seasonal stuff all year round and i’m almost done with act 1 and only one typhoon occured to ruin some crops but its one of those “Okay its 11pm and i have stuff to do… but just one more day those potatoes should be done and i can fight further into the haunted mansion dungeon!” kind of timesinks.

If you have a switch and want a way more mechanically deep Stardew then there is no better option.
