Dauntless’ Blaze Escalation promises new Behemoth variants and a new monster fight on March 19

Things are about to heat up in Dauntless in a rather literal way. The Escalation mode, which readers will recall pits a team of Slayers against a series of five monsters (sometimes two at a time) in a single mission, is seeing a fiery new twist with Blaze Escalation, which is bringing some new amps, some new variants to well-known Behemoths, and at least one new monster fight that sounds… well… daunting, we’ll say.

Blaze Escalation was part of the game’s roadmap update and has been the subject of a number of teases being shared by developer Phoenix Labs. We can safely assume that there will be some tropical foliage to look at, some flame versions of monsters like the Rezakiri and the Quillshot, and a new type of aggressive animal known as the gruk-gruk. More intriguing, though, is some kind of new Behemoth that is described as a fast-moving volcano. And it appears to have big, smashy hands if the latest tease is any indicator.

Speaking of the latest tease, the most recent tweet from Dauntless notes that the new update is coming next Thursday, March 19th. If you’re at all curious about Escalation mode, we took a peek in a stream back in December of last year, which we’ve embedded below.
