I’d pay money to play this, but I’m not buying an Xbox One (esp with the newer model releasing soon).

Their not launching this simultaneously on the PS4, PC, and/or Switch is a bad business move.

NO ONE will buy an Xbox to play this. But thousands of us would drop money in game on other platforms.

At least in the expanded announcement they called it like it is, the “Xbox One Open Beta Test” and not simply “the Open Beta test”. It would have been nice if PC users were in on this at the same time.

Congrats to Xbox One owners anyway.

Is progress in open beta going to transfer to release? The way they talk seems to say it is.

Yes, all data since the first Xbox One Closed Beta test is transferring to release.

Awesome! Thanks, I would have skipped the open beta otherwise since I had already taken part in closed.

I think they may be overestimating just how many North Americans actually like sonic. lol

Can anyone give me the elevator pitch on why so many folks are so crazy about this game? I know zero about it.

I’d suggest watching the anime’s.

Are so many crazy about it?

Whether or not I’m that excited about it sort of depends on which version we get. The Japanese version monetization was all about customization and stuff. There was another version that supposedly added pay to win elements.

That’s what I’m reading, I’d have to experience it myself to see if it was actual pay to win or something people were calling that for some little boost that you paid a dab of money for.

People wanted it years ago and they just never released it in the US. In fact, they sort of made like it was never going to happen, so many of the people who would have been playing this coming version are already playing the Japanese version with an unofficial English patch.

Over the years it has got a lot of extra content though, and we hopefully will be getting all that content fairly quickly, unless they purposely go to space it out (which would sort of make sense I guess – but still I hope it arrives in a pretty quick manner adding some in each week or something if they decide to space it out).

There was some original game too back a long time ago that the earlier Internet pioneers played. That was a game that was out before World of Warcraft, though it looks like it was only on consoles in the US.

The original looks to be pretty famous for a lot of early internet gaming stuff if you look it up. Some keyboards were made for consoles just for this game too it looks like.

Anyway to me this just looks like a fun multiplayer action RPG to play with a lot of content.

I think that some people are just excited about waiting so long to get it and having it finally arrive. It also is free and a decent different type of multiplayer ARPG to play.

agemyth 😩

There’s a lot of nostalgia for the old Phantasy Star Online games, but I think the fact that it never got an official western release has built up a curiosity around it. This game is old and when this release comes out it will feel very dated, so I foresee a lot of people bouncing off (especially with the monetization).

I think part of the appeal in PSO2 is also that its main source of inspiration comes from games before the times when online gaming was “figured out” in games like online ARPGs and MMOs. It is on sort of its own “branch” of ORPG designs that came from JRPG design of the late 90s/early 00s.

Can we dye it black to be more like Shadow?

Give me that Tails emote haha, looks sweet.

I wish the pigtails could do that. It would be much easier finding a seat at a local crowded coffee and then dispensing myself to it with that mechanic. o.O

My cat tail can do that.

2 pigtails can bring no more airborne stability though. Same reason why helicopters have two propellers. <3

Don’t care about that nonsense. Gimme all those completely bonkers crossovers Japan got. THAT shit is straight up my alley.

Neat, but when do PC players get in on this?

Just buy the founders pack on an xbox account. Sense the game will be crossplay and cross account. Just because you dont play console doesn’t mean you cant have a simple xbox account :)

But why though?

Oh, you were reading it like he was asking when can PC players get in on the special pack. I think he meant when can PC players get in on the game.

… You know, as big of a Sonic 90s fan as I am, these aren’t selling me at all on it.

But the 65 seconds of nothing but pure silence that is the trailer? Yeah… totally selling me on a $60 pack here. No music to stir up nostalgia or distract me, no sound effects or anything, and not even a full display of the founders pack… Just 40 seconds of observing Sonic-styled armor, 5 awkward seconds where we see, nay witness the birth of Sonic Rule 63 into the game and thus canonizing it forever…

And some spiffy emotes for like 10 seconds, some of which surely will be spent wondering why anyone would want both tails and the ability to fly with them alongside a skirt…
