Over in World of Warcraft, Blizzard is offering the Winds of Wisdom buff for the next month of play – it’s basically double experience, and yes, it stacks with heirlooms. Vroom.

It’s funny and sad that BfA leveling still feels grindy and unrewarding even at 2X. I’ve fiddled around with characters at every leveling tier. Some feel so fast it’s funny, and most are brisk and fun at 2X. But BfA remains a bit of a chore even with the boost. At that level tier, this is less a bonus and more too little too late…
I’m sure they have the best intentions, so I don’t wanna complain. But for me, personally, a 100% XP boost that cannot be turned off makes an MMO less appealing. The leveling is all the content I have in a pure themepark MMO such as WoW, as I’m not much of an end game raider.
I think SSG’s model of making (some) content available for free for some time for new players is the much better option.
ESO has a great model. There are 1.5x to 2.5x experience scrolls you can use whenever one likes. During the events, the 2x experience buff is activated for 2 hours by using a memento item. So extra experience is completely optional.
In addition, during the year, there have been free giveaways of DLC content. Don’t know if that will still happen now that they have nerfed the daily rewards, but we will see. :)
It’s been awhile since they did something that wants me give them the high five. Thank you Blizz! /bows
WoW with double xp.
Great idea, lets put all the players on our degenerate endgame treadmill and make them burn out quicker.
I suppose it’s better than going out and meet and greet people. While that may sound a lot more wholesome, it might just also kill you. So this gives folks incentive to do something that requires them to stay home, instead of being out spreading COVID butter. Just saying.
I would have resubscribed for a month in order to complete leveling a couple of characters.
IF it had applied to Classic.
I guess the virus has no effect on Classic players, so they don’t need a nice boost.
They’ll roll out the Corrupted Blood plague for us. One hopes.
Wasn’t the point of classic that everything is slower? o.O
There were 2x exp events in Classic. So it would certainly not have been out of character to have one for this.
