With this week’s announcement of the collapse of Chronicles of Elyria’s studio and development, you can bet that there are a whole lot of fans feeling adrift and distraught (not to mention angry at the loss of their invested dollars). The timing couldn’t be any more ripe for another studio with an indie and unorthodox approach to swoop in and try to scoop up those players — which is just what Catnip Games did yesterday.
“Let us know if there is anything we can do to help,” Catnip said on Twitter to Soulbound Studios and the Elyrian community. “Happy to find your players a home in Shroud of the Avatar. Working on something for new players who might be joining us. New release tomorrow and free-to-play and free row and village lots!”
Catnip also tweeted that it is preparing a bonus event to help players “stay home and be safe” amid the COVID-19 outbreak. This event will involve resetting the main storyline, additional item rewards, and upping the quest experience bonus to a boggling 12x rate.
CoE marks ripe for the plucking: Target audience for buying their aristocratic titles online.

This is really getting too easy
Lord Brexit…sincere lol from that one
Lord Brexit?? Don’t tell me he was one of those. /bleh
who cares? it is a funny joke no matter what.
There’s a quite a few who would care about that actually. But don’t let that rain on your fun, I guess. :)
The joke is his frequent history of separating from his created studios/projects and never taking blame for their failures along with calling himself Lord British, get it?
Sort of. I was just wondering if he was going full on Curt Schilling in his social/political views by that reference. But as you said, it now appears it more to do with his personal disconnect in a metaphorical sense. So I hope I got it. o.O
I seriously, seriously doubt it. His politics are one of the best things about him, and if he’s consistent, they wouldn’t bend toward Brexit.
Well thanks for clarifying that then, for what this is worth. /bows
His political rhetoric is good. But what right does a space tourist have to lecture other people about their carbon footprint?
Chris Spears has no shame, as if that weren’t already painfully obvious.
They are just targeting people who obviously buy hype and now have one less okay to spend that cash. It’s a solid, if scummy, play from a company we know is desperate for anything to keep financing their garbage.
Disappointed with how Chronicles turned out?
Well then…we here at SOTA have a new home for your disappointment. Come be disappointed with us at your new home for disappointment. Shroud of the Avatar.

Shroud of the Avatar
~~~Where Disappointment Always Has A Friend~~~
Considering you couldn’t PLAY CoE, I’m not sure how many people would come over.
From the frying pan, into the fire.
…
Lol! :)
Since CoE didn’t get to the point where they had put out a decent playable game, most their backers were just fine playing something else in the meantime.
Not like a bunch of people were suddenly left without a game to play. Catnap really never thinks before they talk.
Is MOP sure that Catnip just tweeting out that Shroud is “happy to find CoE players a home” is an indie and unorthordox way to try to get new players? Sounds like a bog standard ad to me. Get back to me when Chris offers verified CoE players a tax free castle lot as the “something we are working on for new players”.
Any progress on the Seedinvest deep dive? Because that interests me a lot more than whatever this one was.
Yeah, right. If they give CoE players some big gifts that current owners of their game also don’t get, they will have seen the last dime from me they ever will see.
Of course, that isn’t what they meant though. Obviously the “comforting” “Come play our game!” is just a way to try to get new players and it’s not a big offer of anything.
If they want to give verified CoE players something that verified purchasers of Shroud of the Avatar also get (those who purchased SotA before it went free), then go ahead and give out the gifts.
