Check out Rogue Company, Hi-Rez’s upcoming cross-platform team shooter

Rogue Company: It’s definitely not Rogue Squadron on a Bad Company binge. It’s Hi-Rez Studios’ next big thing under the First Watch Games label: a team shooter promising cross-platforminess, “energetic gameplay, and third-person, action movie flair.”

“Taking on million dollar contracts from governments and special interests, Rogue Company is a vigilante force going where governments can’t to stop credible and imminent threats. Relying on public opinion and popular support, many Rogues embrace their newfound celebrity. Elite, sexy and paid, Rogue Company operates between the lines and on the run. Headed-up by Lead Game Designer – and former Halo world champion – Scott Lussier, Rogue Company is the debut game from First Watch Games; a band of Hi-Rez Studios developers and industry veterans with experience working on some of gaming’s most famous and successful shooters.”

The game is currently in alpha and should hit PC (on the Epic Games Store), PS4, Xbox One, and the Switch simultaneously “this summer.”

This game looks like pure trash, the worst part is that shoddy floaty gunplay.

Nice top of the UI ripped straight from R6: Siege

Wow…so bad. I could only make to 1:17 of that trailer. The game play, graphics, characters, oh my God. I’m literally speechless… which means it will probably be a success lol

So I was pretty hype when they first announced this game like a year ago, but seeing that gameplay basically be Fortnite as a Overwatch clone just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Probably still going to play it though…

Ugh.

By the way, i have to say:

There’s nothing more Hi-rez than eating a regurgitated Titanfall ( Apex Legends ) and puking their own take on it. With probably a shitload of bugs, exploits, cheats and terrible hitboxes.

yes hi rez know by the way they steal ideas but than again as TF/Apex player, i dont see the connection here beside using characters.

Reader

The connection is that they decided to push this garbage after they saw Apex success, but they don’t want to try for a BR again.

still there is nothing here that copy from apex…
apex players are players who like fps and br.

this game is more about taking fortnite tps with skins and put it in arena shooters like paladins/overwatch/tf2 genre.

you remember paladins had characters before apex, right? :D
even if it is overwatch ripoff with nice additions (like the cards system)

So? It’s almost the same gameplay, but with tps and no br. It’s a carbon copy of every single fps in the market, including Apex. The only reason they’re pulling this garbage setting is because Apex and R6 have the same setting.

this game is more about taking fortnite tps with skins and put it in arena shooters like paladins/overwatch/tf2 genre.

The only reason they’re not trying to go full BR is because they already have a BR and it flopped hard. That’s Hi-rez for you.

I played Hi-rez games ever since Global Agenda saw the light of the day. I was a betaplayer for Smite. I’m well aware of how Hi-rez operates. Drop the smugness.

I also played global agenda.
There is nothing about been smugness.

I didn’t say hirez not coping other games, I’m just saying this one have nothing in common with apex.
You could pick more than few games but sorry Apex is not one of them.

After the way they treated Global Agenda players, Hi-Rez is dead to me.

As a Tribes enthusiast who was abandoned when SMITE got popular, likewise. I don’t trust them not to abandon a healthy game in favor of chasing the next trend.

It feels like we have reached another one of those points where shooters are in full “churn design” and its just recycling the same ideas on a loop till someone comes up with a gimmick that hits big to reset the clock for another 6 or 7 years.

nothing really new here but i dont mind to get nice tps arena shooter when most of the games in this genre are fps (not include the new Bleeding edge)

so yes im going to try it and if its fun i probably going to play this over overwatch/paladins and the dead Quake Champions :(

Looks good I guess, but Epic exclusive means I guess I won’t be playing it unless you can download a standalone version off of their main website.

Honestly though while watching all that, it just made me wish that it had a PvE mode akin to Fragile Alliance from the fumbled Kane & Lynch series. I.e. you go through objectives against waves of AI, working together in a co-op fashion, and then when you’ve basically got the loot and are waiting for the getaway you can potentially backstab your teammates to try and get a larger cut of the rewards (and if you failed you obviously got less of the reward for going rogue and dying). And those who die would basically join the AI in trying to stop the rest of the player from getting away. Fragile Alliance was a pretty unique/interesting mode and most of the time it was better to just go the safe route by not going rogue; other times though, when an opportunity presented itself, like when some teammates were grouped up in perfect proximity for a grenade to kill them…

I kinda like the way this looks…

Huh. Weird how this looks a lot like Riot Games’ Valorant, gameplay wise I mean. Not to say they’re ripping them off or anything, this game looks a bit too well put together to be something like that, just kind of weird. Is there a game that I’m not aware of they’re emulating? (Other than Counter Strike and Overwatch.)

They are emulating every small scale team FPS that exists. Even the throwing knife and swords – games like CoD MW, Ironsight, Destiny games already had throwing knife weapons. Everyone who plays many FPS games can see that this game is just a clone of many parts of other games.

They announced this like a year or so ago before Valorant ever got teased.

Ah, still weird that two somewhat similar games are coming out roughly the same time.
