Fallout 76 PC players can scoop up a game copy on Steam – for free

So here’s a nice surprise: We knew Fallout 76 was coming to Steam, but we didn’t know that existing players could claim a free Steam copy to play there when Wastelanders rolls out. Yep, that’s now happening. Good show, Bethsoft.

“[W]e’re happy to announce that if you already own the PC version of Fallout 76 on Bethesda.net, then you will also be able to claim a free copy of the game on Steam for a limited time. All you will need to do is link your Bethesda.net and Steam accounts between now and 11:59 p.m. ET on April 12. You can do this by following our account linking instructions on Bethesda.net. Once Fallout 76 becomes available on Steam, PC players who linked their accounts by April 12 will automatically receive a copy of the game on Steam. We will let you know once we’re ready to send out Steam codes after the account linking period is over.”

In other Fallout 76 news, there’s a triple experience event this weekend, along with updates to the launch bundles. Do note that the launch had previously been delayed a few times; it now looks real good for April 14th.

A second copy to those that already have it?
It’s a coincidence, because I was just reading about COVID re-infection rates too!

I have ESO before it came on Steam, why am I not getting a free copy of it on Steam and and forced to buy it again if I want to play it there?! Bethesda are garbage.

the game is cheap now on multiple sites, i think the good part about free copy is that you can give your steam copy to a friend if you dont want it.

So long as this goes as stated, good job to them for a change.

I have this dread in my gut that we will all be watching something goes wrong, whether the other source of the game doesn’t work after installing or the steam version tries to charge wallet funds for full price even though it’s supposed to be free, or…

Anyway, hope it goes as stated, and that those who want to play there enjoy.

I wouldn’t congratulate them until after the weekend. This was only just announced. ;)
