Elder Scrolls Online’s Greymoor has been delayed, but only by about a week

Elder Scrolls Online’s Skyrim-centric Greymoor chapter isn’t going to make its original release window, unfortunately. ZeniMax’s Matt Firor delivered the news to fans this morning, and yes, the delay is due in large part to the work-from-home policies instituted as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

“As you probably know, in response to the current pandemic, everyone at ZOS has been working from home since March 16. This is the first time we’ve ever tried remote work as a studio, and so far things are going well. It looks like we’ll be able to ship Update 26 (with the Greymoor Chapter) about a week after we initially planned it. Right now, we are on track for the PTS to be updated with Update 26 and Greymoor on April 20th. We will let you know if we run into unexpected problems which could delay the live launch beyond the current estimate of one week.”

It was meant to drop May 18th on PC, so that delay pushes it to around May 25th.

Firor also notes that French voiceover localization won’t make the launch because of lockdowns in France, so that’ll be completed and inserted at a later date.

This isn’t the first game to see a delay out of the overarching ZeniMax/Bethsoft conglom; Fallout 76’s Wastelanders expansion has been delayed several times over the last many months, though it does now seem fully on track for launch next week.

“These are trying times for all of us, and we are doing everything we can to stay on track,” Firor concludes. “Please stay safe and healthy and enjoy getting away from your daily life for a bit by adventuring in ESO – and wash your damn hands.” Hear, hear.
