That Star Trek Online patch to make some cash shop ships available buyable in-game is live

Space me out.

This past Thursday saw an update to the PC version of Star Trek Online that wasn’t particularly heavy content-wise but did make a pretty significant change in terms of how players can get certain ships. As of this update, T1 through T4 ships that are no longer available on the Zen cash shop will now be available at the Ship Requisition shop for Dilithium instead.

Depending on the tier of ship, you could be paying as much as 150,000 Dilithium. This is an expansion of a March update that lowered the prices for ships that already cost Dilithium to purchase.

Player reactions to this update appear to be mixed, mostly with confusion regarding the update to the March price announcement and some assuming the costs are incorrect. There also is a bit of confusion about the “era-appropriate loot” that drops from defeated DSC-era Klingon ships.
