Make My MMO: Fractured’s June alpha will include its first attempt at proper player cities

This week in MMO crowdfunding, Fractured’s current alpha test will come to a close, but don’t fret: Dynamight is plotting the next round for June, with the first iteration of player cities, the talent tree, character death, and various quality-of-life and performance upgrades.

“The continent of Myr of planet Syndesia – the only one currently available – will contain 20+ large city plots and 90+ small city plots. The process of claiming a town works as follows: Any player can apply as Governor of a town interacting with the ruins in the center of the town area; if enough players support a candidacy, the city becomes claimed, the candidate becomes Governor and all his/her supporters become citizens of the town; [then] the ruins turn into a blueprint of a Town Hall, which has to be fully rebuilt before any other construction can begin. […] The governor (or a delegate) will be able to place the following elements in a town in A2-T3: public buildings: bank, tavern, barracks; personal land parcels (to be claimed by citizens); fortifications; [and] a few decorative elements such as fountains, vases, etc.”

Meanwhile, OrbusVR celebrated its first birthday, The Repopulation published a small patch, Temtem 0.5.19 tackled bugs, Swords ‘n Magic and Stuff teased a tropical biome, Saga of Lucimia released a new video, and Book of Travels studios Might & Delight hosted a huge event inside Meadow both for charity and in honor of the studio’s 10th birthday. Finally, MMO Occupy White Walls has just a few days left in its Kickstarter.

Read on for more on what’s been up with MMO crowdfunding over the last week, plus our roundup of all the crowdfunded MMOs we’re following!

Saga of Lucimia

Yes, some crowdfunded MMOs most definitely do succeed. But others crash and burn, and you need to hear about the whole spectrum of games that sought your money early in exchange for the promise of input and transparency. And that’s exactly what Make My MMO does every Saturday. Help us keep ’em accountable, would ya?

Book of Travels looks like it is certainly going to be a unique experience. Unique in a good way, not in an unfinished indie MMO-maker MMORPG way (plus those aren’t that unique, sadly). I’m excited to be part of the experience.

And Shelter 3 is going to be Elephants? That art style is just crazy. It has a bit of refined look from some other Shelter games with a lot of its own artful looks as well. It’s weird and beautiful at the same time.
