Star Citizen confirms Fleet Week, Theaters of War testing, and Squadron 42 updates this month

The month of May is looking to be a pretty loaded one for Star Citizen fans as CIG has posted a little teaser of some of the events and updates expected.

The first of these is a new Fleet Week, which promises an “epic” Free Fly event, special promotions, community contests, and more. May will also bring further updates on Squadron 42’s development as CIG checks in with VP of development Brian Chambers to see how the dev teams are doing.

Perhaps most exciting for fans, however, is the confirmation that Theaters of War, the multi-phase FPS/aerial combat PvP game mode that was announced during last year’s CitizenCon, will be holding a test weekend in May.

Details on all of these events and updates are likely forthcoming, but it looks like there’s plenty for fans to get excited about.

MOP did an article recently on not letting games you don’t even play live rent-free in your head and basically own you. Most folks who post in these SC threads need to go read it or re-read it. The thread was directed at GW2, however it applies to SC WAY more in my opinion. What kinda cracks me up is I just looked it up to link it and noticed a comment I made about how MOP staff need to apply the article to themselves with regard to SC and magically that post isn’t there anymore. Guess I hit a nerve. Anyway… enjoy! (see how long this post lasts)

Vague Patch Notes: Complaining about MMOs you don’t play

reminds me of the SWTOR people. Even to this day you still see the same peoplel complaining about SWTOR since launch. I can’t imagine devoting that much time to being angry about a game I don’t play let alone one that I haven’t played in over 7 years.

With Star Citizen I funded it back in the day with $35 pretty much forgot about it till a month ago when I stumbled across a game play video and was blown away.

Now i can’t get enough of it even built a new computer to be able to play it at 60fps.

Highly interested in how many features they cut from 4.0

It’s not even going to be named 4.0 anymore. Probably 3.10. And it will continue down this road until Squadron in finished because that’s already 5 months behind its new alpha date which was the end of 2019. So prepare for 3.10 – 3.16 before we get 4.0. :D

Wait, really?

4.0 is being reserved for when they add another solar system

I think that by the time they actually release a complete game, they are going to have to change the name of the game to “Universal Spaceship Simulator”, or some such. :)

Dude…we already call it that. :)

I think I may have been a little bit obtuse with that one.

Think “American Truck Simulator” and how it relates to real life trucking. By the time SC releases, it will be emulating in the same way. :)

The patch they had yesterday fixed the myriad issues I was having all with out doing a wipe on auec, ship parts, or auec ship purchases. It’s nice to see them at a place where they can take care of this stuff nimbly.

They also released a server and website status page which is nice. Prior to the patch I would have said we took a few steps back, but post patch it really seems like we’re moving in a great direction.

yep, post-patch had a long bugless session, played around with loading little ships in big ones and it wouldn’t break
