MMORPGs around the globe celebrate Star Wars day

May the 4th (as in, May the 4th be with you) is upon us, and plenty of MMOs would like you to know that they, too, like Star Wars, or at least they’d like you to like Star Wars while playing their thing!

In the Star Wars Galaxies rogue server community, SWG Legends is going all out with double everything, a party at Lake Retreat, a Meatlump quest, Hyperspace Hoopla at the Jedi Temple Ruins on Dantooine, and a new badge.

Multiple other MMORPGs are offering some sort of May the 4th well-wishing or even events. AdventureQuest 3D, for example, kicks off its annual festival with a “game-wide monster hunt and a collection of parody items […] including one ridiculously oversized Black Samurai-looking Dark Lord helm.” Shroud of the Avatar has a pilot helm on offer, while SWTOR is running double-experience all month long and doling out free minipets!

May 4th… Where we mourn the loss of a once great franchise.
Slayed by a Mouse over the course of 3 movies.

Where merchandise sits on shelves for over 5 years…
Where a Park fails to attract fans.(before shutdown)
Where we mourn the loss and assassination of the heroes of our childhood…

I’ll have a drink and toast Star Wars while I wonder what could of been if Lucas did not sell to the Evil Empire Disney.

TBH I thought Rise of Skywalker did a decent job of recovering about as best as it could from the travesty that was Rian Johnson trying to hijack the franchise and turn it into another generic Disney movie series. It didn’t fix everything of course, and the end was disappointingly predictable (and I died a little inside at the very end), but it tickled enough nostalgia and paid enough homage to the original trilogy + prequel trilogy to where it felt like a good enough sendoff for the Skywalker Saga.

Of course by saying that it means that I do see that movie as the last point in Star Wars history that I really will likely ever care about. Similar to the Marvel CU after Endgame, I simply can’t muster up any care to give about whatever they try to do further, and already didn’t care about all of the side series and projects that they did leading up to the main series’ finale.

I’m just disappointed that Disney thought it was a good idea to not let JJ do the full trilogy. They obviously realized their mistake after Last Jedi, but by then the damage was already done and Luke Skywalker’s character was permanently ruined by bad writing/directing.

I walked into work today all smiles, wishing everyone a wonderful May 4th! I was met with a young person giving me a questionable look and a tilt of their head as they asked, “I hear that a lot. What does it mean?” So I educated them!

I’ll be taking advantage of double experience in SWGL. Maybe we can get our combat characters to 90 over the next few days. Maybe!

Very tempted to reinstall SWTOR for the double exp. I only have Consular and Inquisitor to finish for my Legendary flair, really ought to just do it already. Can’t say I’m very excited to pick up my millionth astromech retexture though…

May the 4th be with y’all

agemyth 😩

Yuck. Unless you are a Star Wars or Disney game I really don’t want to see acknowledgement of this corporation owned “holiday”. I’m a very fun person like that.

The Rise of Skywalker on Disney+ and pizza is how I am celebrating Star Wars day. At least it will be once I have done with housework / yard clearing.

May the 4th be with you 😉
