Guild Wars 2’s No Quarter episode launches May 26 with new map and mastery

Hey, that's nice.
This won’t come as a huge surprise, since we already knew Guild Wars 2’s next living story Icebrood Saga episode is called No Quarter and that we’d be getting the new trailer today. That’s all true. What we didn’t know for sure was that it’d make May, and it will: May 26th. We also know quite a bit more about the plot too, as ArenaNet’s this morning announced the name of the map and some of the juicy details too.

“Chapter three of Guild Wars 2’s ongoing story The Icebrood Saga arrives Tuesday, May 26, plunging players into the middle of an epic confrontation against former allies as conflict between factions of charr warriors erupts into all out civil war. Titled No Quarter, the episode opens up a brand new, never-before seen part of Tyria: the Drizzlewood Coast tucked into the viridian forests of the Woodland Cascades. Taking inspiration from the World vs. World game mode, players will be thrust into a massive map-wide battle featuring fortress sieges and capture points in one gigantic meta-event. ArenaNet released a new trailer today that prefaces the impending clash of armies that will roll its way across the charr nation and leave no one untouched.”

Notably, the episode will include the new map, the Charr civil war meta event, a new wave-based strike mission dubbed Cold War, another tier to the Essence Manipulation mastery track that’s been running this saga, new weapon sets (Tengu Echo and Stormcaller), new Charr-themed backpacks and helms (oh my goodness, we bet these won’t clip!), a new emote for playing dead, new bear shaman armor, and a new mastery line: United Legions Waystation mastery, which will “grant new special action skills useful for besieging charr fortresses and resupplying allies.”

As we’ve previously noted, this will be the episode that rolls out to players without voice acting due to the pandemic, but ArenaNet has said it’ll patch in the actors’ work as soon as it’s able to record and process it again.

Check out the new trailer and pics below!

Doesn’t look too bad, I’ll have to check it out! On a side note, where’s Armsbend been? Get the deserved boot finally like from every other forum he’s ever been on?

He hasn’t been banned, if that’s what you’re asking. He’s just someone who takes long pauses from here sometimes.

We actually like him here. He may be a bit nihilist, but he’s a cool person to talk to and has good knowledge.

I’m glad there’s a map-wide event. Those things keep the maps alive a lot longer than a simple romp-through for story.

So i finally bought Path of Fire, got Icebound Saga for free, but i feel so lost, i need to figure out how to get better gear and understand how gear works in the game, also need to start Path of Fire content.

The best gear is legendary– but it has exactly the same stats as ascended. The benefit to legendary is the ability to switch stats anytime. You can switch stats on ascended with some mystic forge materials. Ascended, however, is only 2% better than exotic. Exotics are fine for anything except hard-core raiding, really. They can be bought for a couple gold per piece. The others take a bunch of time and money. In short, don’t sweat the gear. ;)

When you get to PoF content, don’t be afraid to call out for help. Some of those djinn are really mean. I hope you have fun with it!

You’re fine in Exotics. I have no trouble with the content I do then again I’m not into hardcore raiding either. That other gear is for players that need to have this grind for gear content.

The Wooden Potatoes PvE stuff has been helpful, though I also have the added advantage of running in a duo.
Still, the warrior/spellbreaker video helped me with some play theory even though I still play the class my own way with double daggers.

Thank you, i’m watching the guides, it’s been so long since last time i played, so no wonder i’m lost :-)

I’ll give this a crack, if you’re doing nothing but Open World content and the story then you’ll be fine with Exotic level Gear when you hit level 80, then there is Ascended Gear which is only a 10% increase in Power which you only really need for Tier 4 Fractals (basically 5 Mans) and Raids (which is fine because Raiders are Elitist Jerks, and you would gradually get Ascended gear any way moving up through T1 through T3 Fractals), or you can get Ascended from maxing out the appropriate crafting professions for your class which while rewarding is a time sink (but then this is an MMO so that’s what we’re all here for any way time sinks).

Here’s a great suggestion if you don’t care about story, if you want easy ascended trinkets/rings/neck/back then buy the Living World Season 3 DLC pack as each of those zones has vendors that sell those items for their map currencies.

You do not need to focus on End Game group content to enjoy this game, GW2 is basically more known and appreciated for it’s Open World End Game, similarities to other games think Rift Zone Events, or perhaps War Hammer Online.

PvEvE?

Yeah the lack of voices is weird, I wonder what playing the story like that will feel like.

It appears that they are trying to do the best they can with the available resources. Looks good, though clearly on a very tight budget. I’m really glad that they’ve changed their reward mentality, which has driven players away for too long.
