Star Trek Online previews environments for a year of Klingons with the promise of more missions to come

This place is ugly.

Playing a Klingon in Star Trek Online still feels a bit like being the unloved faction. The faction was originally just there for PvP, supposedly, then got reworked and expanded, but there was always the vague sense that Klingons were more of an afterthought as a faction. Which is why it’s all the more heartening to see all the talk about the environments of the upcoming Year of the Klingon in the most recent stream, which you can catch up on with a video or with a summary discussing the varied environments in sharp contrast to the uniform soft Federation look.

Meanwhile, the game has patched in the second part of its year-long meta-event with the Defense of Pahvo, offering players a chance to earn progress toward a free T6 ship and a healthy chunk of Lobi crystals besides. The patch also includes the remastered models for the Ferengi Marauder and the Akira-class ship, so your ship of choice may also look more striking whilst on-mission. Last but not least, there’s a promotional event running right now for R&D Packs, giving you a chance to get a little bit more bang for your buck along the way.
