*Sigh* Greymoor is NOT a DLC. It is a CHAPTER.
* DLC are usually much smaller than a Chapter.
* DLC are included with a subscription at no charge.
* DLC are typically 1000 to 2000 Crowns with 1500 being the average, if you are F2P or choose to buy them for later F2P.
* DLC cannot be purchased directly for money.
* Chapters MUST be purchased with money; cannot be purchased with Crowns.
* Chapters are always full zones w/story and mainline quest, public dungeons, regular dungeons, and trial(s).
* Chapters are NOT included with a subscription.
Please, MOP staff, stop calling Greymoor a ‘DLC’. :)
Well I had originally called it an expansion, which is how it feels to me. Does that sound better?
Indeed. :)
‘Chapter’ is what ESO calls what is normally known in the MMO world as an ‘Expansion’.
It is only important in the case of ESO as they make a definite distinction between the usage of the term ‘DLC’ and ‘Chapter’. Because it involves significant access and cost, the distinction is important.
This is kind of the fault of ESO, as the rest of the industry calls this type of content addition an expansion. If they had named their Chapters to be Expansions, I don’t think anyone would call Greymoor a DLC. Oh well.
You have this down Ironwu and your explanation is more clear and concise than ESOs -they do not make it easy at all.
I spent a lot of time figuring all of that out this past weekend. I posted about it on this week’s WRUP – late though, cause I spent all day figuring out the mess.
Gotta love Lyris in the prologue.
