Shroud of the Avatar has made a female shopkeeper outfit and it is very proud of itself

Do you play a lady in Shroud of the Avatar? Does that lady own a shop? Have you ever wanted to make that shopkeeping lady look the part? Apparently you can soon, as a preview of a female shopkeeper outfit is the top of this week’s newsletter.

This new outfit, which is functional on male characters as well, features two different bodice pieces — one with a pendant necklace and one with a choker — that are dyeable, a dyeable apron skirt, and some long leather boots and gloves. If you’re the sort who wants a look more tailored to men, a male shopkeeping outfit is in the works as well, which is fashioned after the game’s current NPC merchant styles.

That, effectively, is the latest news from the game, with the rest of the newsletter pointing to the usual livestream Q&A, some flash sales, store items, and login rewards.

Now if they could make the shopkeepers from sitting down for no reason that would be newsworthy. Too bad they spend all their time making cash shop items rather than fixing broken mechanics.

It’s almost as if the game was half-assedly thrown together to recoup Portalarium’s debts from the failed mobile game Ultimate Collector.

They banned me from their Steam forums, because I said the game only exists so they can milk the community in the most elaborate ways possible… my words verbatim.

The tone of this article makes me laugh. It makes me smile to see that MOP is still covering the game even after Chris Spears tried to gaslight them.

I’ve played this game for 50 hours and I still don’t really know how equipment works. On one hand I mean, it must matter because the equipment has stats but on the other hand, it’s really hard to see any compelling differences between items of the same class.

Should this be considered newsworthy? I don’t think most launched games would get coverage for such minor content additions.

Times are tough for MMO news sites. Scrounging for crumbs, like us MMO players.

The article is making fun of SotA, it just doesn’t have an obvious statement like “SotA’s latest news update only touts a cash shop dress up option for female vendor NPCs, with nary a word about Episode 2 content or Chris’ vaunted 2020 vision that keeps missing deliverables month after month. But enjoy the dress up shop!”

I give the article a thumbs up – Chris deserves this type of coverage after complaining about not getting press, after being deceptive with the press on many past snafus, and then just ignoring the press.

Big news from a top game. Is this outfit available through in-game play or is it a cash shop item?
