The first esports tournament in World of Warcraft: Classic is the new Summer Bowl

Now that there’s a second form of World of Warcraft out and playable, don’t you want to know who’s the best player in WoW Classic PvP? Don’t answer that because the answer is that you’re getting it anyhow. The first ever WoW Classic Summer Bowl is kicking off, and you can sign up now if you want to participate in this open 10v10 tournament taking place within Warsong Gulch starting on June 17th.

The tournament will use the War Games feature and is open to anyone with a level 60 character on the Classic servers. Tournament prizes are limited to $4,000 for the top winner in both US and EU regions, as well as the simple bragging rights of being the tournament winner. If that sounds like a good time to you, hey, sign on up and get ready for the open qualifiers; there’s no cost for entry, after all.

Ah, yes. Classic PvP.

A smorgasboard of Frost Mages, T2 Warlocks, Warriors with several Priests shoved up their backside while they crit everything for 3k and everything dies. All while a lone Shaman keeps purging his life out and rotating Windfury totem for that Warrior.

Oh, look, the Druid capped the flag.

Don’t ever remember Orc Warriors or Orcs in general resisting stuns 90 percent of the time. But apparently they do now.

They did. People just didn’t play Orcs because they weren’t focused on optimization, but Orcs are the best Warrior race bar none. Having 30% stun resist, coupled with Priests shoved up your behind is enough for you to pummel everything.

Orcs are the best Classic WoW race, and that’s not even debatable. The stun resist shuts down Rogues, Blackout Priests, Paladins, Imp. Concshot/Intimidation Hunters, Impact Mages, Pyroclasm Warlocks and other fringe specs. And whatever else you would fear, your class takes care for you, or the party composition. Fear? You’re a Warrior, use your bazillion Fear-immune CDs. Repentance? That would require a lolret. Burst? Welcome to your Priests. Frost Mages? Sure, you’ll get screwed by good Frosts, but if we’re talking about similar skill levels, your Shaman will be purging the mage and grounding totem it’s main nukes or CC’s. You’ll be able to get near it, specially with all the heals and shields.

Must e-sports truly be shoehorned into absolutely everything?

WoW already had esports. :D

Yes, but not classic, or vanilla back in the day, to the best of my recollection.

Times change, and Classic is not Vanilla.

Yeah, they already had their shoehorned, much criticized, and quite lacking esports push in game. Even websites that are more esports supportive don’t seem to view it very positively.

No. Oh drat, you realized just how I didn’t want to know.

Esports… MMO unbalanced as all get out PvP? Um, yeah, just leaving this here…
