Torchlight 3 had piqued my interest with that railmaster class but I’ve seen a lot of info on the game and it sounds like it needs a lot of work before I’d consider spending money on it. Right now it’s a hard pass, and unless they vastly improve the game, it will stay that way.

I really want Torchlight 3 to be good as a huge fan of the first two, but it looks like the game will be a shit show. I’m not as concerned with the reviews about connection and server issues, since its early access, but the large amount of reviews discussing how the game is basically a dumbed down mobile game with very basic character customization and content is really disappointing. They took Torchlight Frontiers and repackaged it as a pay to play game that’s still is built around a free to play system.

That’s how most games are nowadays – fueled by stupid and questionable decisions.

Torchlight 3 is a big disaster atm. It’s got a resounding “Mostly Negative” 35% positive review score on Steam. I bought it, tried to play for an hour, and requested a refund. The early access version requires online play, but all the servers were down. With over 1700 reviews in so far the game has a long row to hoe if it hopes to ever be profitable. Even with early access first impressions are very difficult to overcome. This one may be DOA.
