Hey there! Would you like to get your inbox flooded with marketing emails because you play The Elder Scrolls Online? The answer to that question is probably “no,” or maybe “hell no” or “why would you ask that” or “damn, no.” But what if you would also get a free pet out of it? Does that change your answer to “ehhhhh” or “maybe” or “how cute is the pet?” That’s basically the goal of this particular promotion.
Anyone who has a verified email that has opted to received marketing emails by the end of June will be given a free Infernium Dwarven Spider pet, with emails containing the codes going out at the start of July. So it’s up to you if your email’s freedom from marketing spam is worth the lack of a little burning pet following beside you, or conversely if you like little burning clicky companions enough that you’ll put up with marketing spam. No judgement here.Source: Official Site

Even a cute pet isn’t worth that. If there’s anything MMOs have taught me over the years, it’s that completionism is not for me (just for pets and mounts, in most games it would cost a LOT of money and time to collect all of them, same for many other activities).
Nowadays I mostly just go after what I really love and ignore the rest, and I already have lovely pets for all my ESO characters (Shadowghost guar = best pet!).
Seems like it’s just signing up for the “I would like to receive news about new events and promotions” box, not the “See more relevant ZeniMax ads on other sites by sharing my email address” one.
90% sure they already had promotions like this awhile back because I have long had that checkbox marked.
I already sold my soul to the company store so I didn’t have to do anything LOL.
My bone dragon pet is the only one I’ll ever need.
Gonna have to offer me a Mount at least for me to even consider adding to the spam.
The spam isn’t that bad! I’ve been subscribed to them for years. I think the most mail I’ve gotten from them in a month was 4 or 5, and only during promotion months. Otherwise, I might see one a month from them. I don’t mind since I like to know what’s going on in the games I don’t play often, so I know when to log in and play for freebies and new things.
Meh I’m not big on mechanical spider pets so pass for me. I would have done it, and then unsubscribe after I have the pet, if I liked the reward.
That’s what spam folders were invented for. After you claim the pet, of course.
.
So, to get another annoying critter to follow me around and distract me, I’d have to sign up for marketing spam to annoy me and fill my inbox?
No thanks.
I already get their emails, where’s my pet?
