World of Warcraft’s latest Shadowlands build includes profession updates, dungeon journals, and customization

Another alpha update has hit World of Warcraft’s test servers, and this one wound up with a few technical issues ensuring that the alpha wouldn’t be up again until today. But that didn’t stop dataminers from going to town, finding a whole pile of new entries for bosses and dungeons along with more customization options (including Night Elf scars). The advantages of datamining, right there, especially if you’re still salivating over the prospect of more character customization.

Not much datamining was needed for the new profession changes, though, which were specifically announced and detail crafters providing the base items for new Legendaries in Torghast while being able to add custom reagents to crafted pieces. The alpha test will feature vendors to quickly bring you up to speed, of course. Gathering skills will also have a larger skill level compared to crafting, as it takes more gathering to craft anything.

Also, for those of you looking forward to the new World of Warcraft board game, Small World of Warcraft, you can now preorder it with an expected shipping date no later than September 17th.

Remember the halcyon days when games just came out and we played them and loved them (or didn’t)?

Those ancient times, when every jot and tittle of the development and design choices wasn’t publicised and analyzed in excruciating detail for months if not years before we got to see the product?

How much fun is Christmas if you not only know precisely what you’re getting, but have heard discussions of literally every bolt and nut of its construction, every design contemplated and discarded, implemented then changed?

No wonder mmos have become stultifying.

This is one of the reasons why I’m grateful there is no alpha/beta testing with FFXIV

Gathering skills will also have a larger skill level compared to crafting, as it takes more gathering to craft anything.

I hope they balance it a lot better than they did in BFA… it felt like you needed so much materials to craft anything, which was not a satisfying experience to spend all that time gathering for it to be turned into so little….

Crafting in bfa followed a clear, growing irrelevance that was clear in legion and started in drainor if not earlier.

I hope it matters in the next xpac and hasn’t finally slouched to the obscurity and irrelevance to which it seems destined.

I gotta say, WoW is definitely edging ahead in the character customization category. I’ll take long, flowing hairstyles in partial up-dos and scars over a metric ton of body and face sliders any day. So few MMOs deliver in the hair department!

I’m assuming the Raid bosses listed under Azeroth are going to be World Bosses?
