SMITE is adding Tsukuyomi the Japanese moon god to the roster in August

In darkness blooms the spider lily -- oh, wait, wrong game

The Japanese pantheon in the MOBA SMITE is about to grow by one more this August as Hi-Rez Studios has announced that the moon god Tsukuyomi is going to be added to the roster, making him the 111th(!) playable character in the game. That’s a lot of characters. And a lot of ones.

Information is a bit thin right now, but the press release sent to us states that more details about this new arrival will land on the game’s official site following a preview broadcast on SMITE’s Twitch channel this coming Wednesday, July 22nd, at 3:00 p.m. EDT. In the meantime, there’s a pretty slick teaser cinematic featuring Tsukuyomi and the sun goddess Amaterasu squaring off, because of course they are. That video is just below the break.
