Bonus question: What’s your favorite piece of furniture in your home?

Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): I’ll be doing my first Pokemon Go Fest ever, since Niantic is finally doing Go Fest closer to what I was originally told when they revealed more news of it during E3 2017: an event that is more about socializing than paying for power. Okay, so you’re probably still paying for some power (though I bet we won’t get free distance raid passes to simulate the easy to access raids the physical events get), but my communities are more alive than usual, especially since Niantic finally listened to players and increased the storage cap. Feel free to DM me on Twitter if you want to exchange friend codes!

My favorite piece of furniture is any of our couches. We have some comfy couches. No joke, I would rather sleep on those than my own bed.

Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Well I’d like to say I’ll be in Lord of the Rings Online since that’s where my heart is lately, but… well. You know. So I’ll probably be in Star Wars Galaxies Legends instead. There’s been a run on Deneelian Fizz Pudding this week – I’ve sold about 50 boxes! – and I can’t restock it fast enough. So I clearly need to rethink my pricing to get folks to calm their tits a smidge because it’s not really all that fun to do nothing but make one food and its subcomponents around the clock.

The furniture question is hard for me since my husband and I have built or bought used and then refinished about half of the furniture we currently own, and that makes it more personal. The easiest pick would probably be my computer desk, which we built entirely from scratch. We wanted a super long (but not too deep!) desk that would fit both of our PCs and other equipment so we could game and work side by side. It was one of the few large pieces that made it across the country with us during our move a few years back. Still using it!

Carlo Lacsina (@UltraMudkipEX), YouTube): If there’s time this weekend, I’ll just be doing more grinding in Black Desert Online. I’m really bent on making my character as strong as possible before the season ends in early September. I might tool around with a few Switch games like Paper Mario: Origami King, but that’s all. I might just end up lazing around on my brand new Tempurpedic mattress with the wifey.

That mattress is awesome, we just bought it two weeks ago and it’s been a huge help for us. It’s definitely my second favorite piece of furniture in my house. My true favorite is me. Yes, I am my most favorite piece of furniture in the house. I’ve been home since literally March and it’s been nice just being at home.

Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): Ghost of Tsushima. Maybe some Dauntless. Definitely some BDO. Assuming I’m not fried by work, anyway. Which has been happening a lot to me recently if I’m honest.

I hate all of my furniture. Except my bed. The bed is good to me.

Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Got something new to play for a bit of a rush job now, so I’ll probably be doing that alongside some Final Fantasy XIV. That really should be enough for this weekend. It’ll probably be sedate. I would love sedate.

There’s a lot of nice furniture in my house, but I think my favorite thing is probably the futon we have in the den. It’s comfy and fun. Bed is a close second.

Mia DeSanzo (@neschria): I have some family things going on this weekend, but I hope to enhance some gear and keep on the grind in BDO. I have some new games to check out if I get too frustrated with that.

My favorite piece of furniture is our sectional in the basement. Our TV is down there too. I love hanging out down there with my laptop while my family watches TV. I sleep on it more often than I’d like to admit.

Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I think I’ll be playing some Star Wars: The Old Republic but I’ve largely been on a burnout binge. Playing all sorts of retro inspired single player games.

Favorite furniture? Maybe the sofa. If I’m not at my desk I’m probably laying on it.

Tyler Edwards (blog): I’m working my way through my backlog. Next up is Agents of Mayhem. Not sure if I’ll like it not, but the art style is appealing, and I’m craving something action-y. If it doesn’t work out, I have no shortage of other options.

Bonus question: My big old dresser. This thing is older than I am. Since I was a home birth, it’s actually bound to have been one of the first things I ever saw.

Every Saturday, join the Massively OP community and staff for What Are You Playing, our roundup of what MMORPGs and other games we’re hoping to play this weekend (with a bonus question or two for our amusement). Tell us what you’re up to! Go off-topic! And don’t forget to have fun!

I’ve had some hard realizations over the last 2 weeks or so about my gaming habits and preferences. I’ve come to accept that i enjoy certain games too much not to play them, and it comes at a cost of alienating my friends.

My game of choice is Classic WoW, and over the last year i’ve realized that it’s my favourite MMO of all times. Bar none. Thing is, this is not an opinion shared by vast majority of my friends. And almost none of them play it or enjoy it. I’m constantly being asked to play other games with them, or to check out other genres, but i just don’t feel like sacrificing limited amount of free time that i have on things that i may or may not enjoy, when i already know what i’m enjoying. As a result, the amount of co-op gaming i do with my friends is an all time low…

… and i’m ok with that.

You’ve gotta live the life you’re given the way that works for you, friend Loopy. As far as we know for sure, we only get the one. :-)

Enjoy Classic WoW! And throw us a screenshot or two of anything you think worthy in your travels, if you’re so inclined.

Always good to see you posting. Be well!

I got the xbox game pass on pc for the first time. it’s just too good of a deal to let it pass from now on. I tried very hard to limit myself to few games at a time so it’s only Minecraft Dungeons, Children of Morta and Plague Tale Innocence for now until i get them done. Plus i have an odd obsession for Warhammer Vermintide 2 on ps4 lately. I play with bots because i don’t have nor want the plus but it’s going rather well. I’m impressed at the complexity of that game as soon as you get over the initial spam-one-button to kill all rats. I’m surprised the game is not more popular but it might have to do with the toxicity of the playerbase? I can tell from experience that the game has an incredibly high skill ceiling so maybe it’s that?

On the MMO front it’s been FFXIV and a little WoW as I’m trying to get a few achievements in before Shadowlands. I essentially skipped all of BfA, but I’ve got better vibes for Shadowlands.

Been poking around in a lot of single player games. Finished the campaign in A Legionary’s Life for the first time, achieving the rank of Centurio Prior, my highest rank yet on my 12th start. This is just the beginning; I will retire as a Senator of Rome one day.

Found a great rogue-lite time waster called Card Hog. In which you play various Hog classes running around a grid of cards that either help you or hinder you, battling enemies, grabbing weapons, etc. Easy to play and kinda (only kinda?) silly.

Disciples, one of my all time favorite strategy games. Much slower than today’s games, but still challenging.

EndZone, a very well-executed survivor city-building game. Still in Early Access, but quickly becoming one of my favorite city manager games.

Amplitude teasing me again with Sign Up For Scenario Testing pings. Don’t they see me jumping up and down? Can’t they see my hand waiving frantically? Anyway, Humankind, my most anticipated game of 2021.

Favorite piece of furniture: My sit-stand desk, which I’ve had for a couple of years and completely changed my life.

WoW has been absorbing most of my free time but that might be coming to an end soon as I’m starting to feel burnt out. Really not a fan of how slow Unshackled reputation is moving along without an emissary active, and I’m now to the point where I’m trying to do four zones worth of daily quests (Nazjatar, Mechagon, Uldum, and Vale) so I can get BFA flying and also push progression on the Horrific Visions. Daily grinds are a good way to kill my interest.

Going to push myself back into FFXIV to get at least 57 or so more moogle tomestones, though that mostly just means doing an MSQ roulette daily. Also dabbing a bit in Heroes of the Storm. Not really sure what else I might play this weekend/coming week.

I always figure, whenever a game starts to feel like unpaid work, it’s probably time to play something else. It’s your call to make, though, of course.

Whatever you choose to play, I hope you have fun!

Yeah that’s usually the way it goes with MMOs for me, lol. Play them til I get bored of the grind/chore aspect and then move to something else/come back later.

  • Wizards Unite – Did the second week of the cute animals event. Big update happened that overhauled account upgrades, and its neat in some ways. I can bippity boppity boo some foundable on the map, even the most rare/severe one, and it’ll spawn multiple other copies on the map. Or bippity boppity boo an inn and get extra spell energy. Or brew potions faster. Etc. Overall the game’s taking a grindy direction over a walking and hunting direction, which I understand if we’re in a COVID world of not leaving too far from our homes if we don’t have to. It also means I can take my long walks and actually accomplish a lot without feeling pressure to literally walk all over the city instead. A ‘Wizarding Weekend’ started and eh… seems buggy and events are not exclusives so I’m just going to see what I can do but not stress about it like the last Community Day.
  • Another Eden – Didn’t finish original main story final boss because I didn’t feel like it, but maybe this weekend. What I did do was finish the Ocean Palace episode story, do some fishing, and a lot of content grinding to wrap up some weapon/armor catalogue entries and various achievements. I’m basically caught up. Probably this weekend I’ll beat that final boss one way or another, then move on to some other batch of content, maybe the Time Mine? Its been announced that the followup to the Two Knights (the first episode I completed) is coming very very soon, likely next week, and it should be available at the point I’m at, so its going to be very tempting to play that, even while I may lack all ‘bonus characters’ for quicker grind rewards. But I love that I could get a free 5* Deirdre <3.
  • Magikarp Splash – Suspended.
  • Magia Record – Logins.
  • Final Fantasy Brave Exvius – Logins.
  • Blade xLord – Just logins and some dailies, but the chopping block might not be mine, but the devs. Apparently updates have slowed to a trickle in the Global version while the home version is still getting stuff. I’ll still try to push through the existing storyline then see what happens.
  • Sub to my Adventure – Suspended.
  • Last Cloudia – JP/GL event continues and grows a little, returning previous events and daily gacha pulls. I’m doing that stuff, though casually as its literally impossible to max out every event they dumped on the players all at once, but I should also prep for new main story content dropping in the next couple weeks, and start saving currency again for the upcoming collaboration event. I’ve gotten some good pulls lately, of permanent characters and arks, but I haven’t been lucky enough for any new limited characters.
  • SWTOR – A little questing on Taris.
  • Distancing Hangouts – Suspended aside from my partner’s C&C matches, though he’s trying to return to morning yoga :P.
  • Coromon – Suspended.
  • Tales of Crestoria – Its a buggy mess, but I’ve kept with it and I’m mostly caught up with the story, trying to progress casually, and get enough rewards from their first event. Its fun, though only the story is really getting me attached so far! I could love a premium console/PC release version of it. I get hyped up when the pre-story boss fight music jazzes up :)

Partner did finish the NOD campaign in C&CR and is at least taking a break to go Protoss SC2. I assume still Animal Crossing and Astral Chain. He’s seriously looked at Final Fantasy sale so maybe X or XII is in the cards.

I also started my FFXIV ‘trial account’ character! A dark Elezen this time, resisting my urge to be human again in yet another MMO, and I’m just happy I’m going to have both 2.0 and 3.0 content effectively mostly ‘F2P’ as long as I want. So happy. This is awesome :).

The upcoming episode in Global server Another Eden! Biggest hype for me. Alternate universe fighting alternate characters :O:

The boss I’m stuck on :( (chapter 3 of 4, 5 coming soon, and not counting the side story chapters) Don’t think ‘poor girl’, she’s a menace!

My two pet iguanas when I was a kid were named Iggy and Iggy II, respectively. I was nine; I thought those were cool names.

Alas, iguanas were new as pets then, and the internet did not exist yet. We vastly underestimated the blistering levels of heat the poor scaly souls needed to survive and thrive. You actually need one or two of those red heat lamps that they use to hatch chicken eggs placed over the terrarium, or the poor iguanas will eventually die from being too cold. I cried oceans when they died.

They were quiet pets, and pretty chill. They get used to being held and petted pretty easily — just make sure your hands are clean. They’re stoic pets, but they do seem to approve of your presence after a short while.

You also don’t have to feed them live food, thankfully. They like various veggie bits, and maybe fresh raw hamburger now and again.

Not good pets for wee kids, because they can be kind of fragile. Wee kids don’t know enough to handle things gently. Empathy is a learned trait, after all.

Just be sure to do all your internet research before you adopt an iguana, okay? Having pets die sucks.

And … Hey there, Massively friends!

Speaking of death, I’m not dead, just resting :-)

My health went sideways about a month ago, as it does sometimes, and I’ve been spending the time doing a LOT of sleeping to recover.

It’s NOT Covid-19, thankfully, and it’s not anything I will die from, so don’t worry — it’s just annoying, is all.

Haven’t been playing games too intensely, but beyond bits of dabbling with the usual stuff like Star Trek Online, I’ve been playing a lot of Neverwinter Online on my PS4, partly because the game is almost ARPG-like in its playable simplicity. Simple fun is good when you’re feeling crappy! :-)

I also (finally) found an Assassin’s Creed game I actually enjoy! Yep, I was “That Guy” — I never found an Assassin’s Creed game that didn’t bore me until I took a flyer and bought Assassin’s Creed: Origins for my PS4.

The beginning “tutorial” section in the town of Siwa wasn’t “all that and a bag of chips” for me, but once I got out of Siwa the game became very interesting pretty quickly.

Part of the reason I like AC: Origins when I was bored by earlier Assassin’s Creed games, is that this new game incorporates a lot more of what we would call “rpg mechanics” — plots and side plots; missions and optional side missions; interesting NPC characters to interact with, and there are stories threaded through the whole thing. I’m surprisingly happy with the game thus far.

Take care of yourselves, and each other. More than ever, that’s the only way we’ll get through.

I’ll leave you with this meme posted by George “Sulu” Takei. He captioned it with: “What have I always said? Don’t be a red shirt!” :-)

Cheers all,

Secret

Iguanas are way too numerous (and huge) in South Florida. I will never forget one morning when it got down in the 40s F and I was walking into work when one fell from a tree and plopped on the hood of a car I was walking by.

You are welcome to come by and pick up how ever many you want – post this whole virus thing of course.

Wow. I didn’t know any of that.

I’ve heard Florida jokingly referred to as “The Land of the Weird”, but iguanas dropping onto the hood of your car (looking for a ride to work, maybe?) that’s very strange.

Thank you for the kind offer, but y’know it crushed young me when my iguanas died (we tried so hard to save them — yay, Mom!), I don’t know that I have the heart to try owning an iguana again, even as a semi-geezer.

Besides, for all her attitude, my cat is timid. An iguana would scare the shit out of her, simply by being here. She’d probably hide in the closet for weeks, if not forever! :-)

But thank you, Zulika. Be safe down there in FLA. I’ve been reading news that suggests your state Governor never really got the memo about the coronavirus — or didn’t believe the memo when he did get it. You take care of you and yours, please, okay?

Cheers,

I’m mostly outside on the weekends, including today, and tomorrow I’ll be up at my in-law’s camp. In the MMO world, I’m once again splitting my time between LotRO and DDO, mostly the later as the former has been non compis mentis recently.

Bonus question: we have a pair of wingback recliner chairs in the room we affectionately refer to as “the library”. My wife and I spend many an evening in them reading and chatting, especially lately now that COVID is a thing. Stay safe out there!

This week: Once again, I have nothing to show for myself. As I am still not ready to display what I’ve been working in the privacy of my lockdown on here. Perhaps, I am drawing vaporware… :(

Also this week: Where the lines between Portland and Hong Kong become increasingly more blurry. /bleh

As well as: Moar Blade & WoW!

Bonus Answer: Pillows! One for the head. And 2 more for the pigtails. <3

Have a great week and weekend folks! And please stay safe.

No…they’re not that powerful or violent…just mildly functional when convenient. Though they tend to get mouthy at times on the internet. >.<

People who play many MMOs, how do you do that? i have 7 MMOs installed and i haven’t played 5 of them in the past month or two, so i’m thinking of uninstalling them.

Anyway, playing Maplestory, they have a new Burning server which gives 3 burning characters, means characters with leveling buff, after reaching level 150 they can move to the main servers, so i’m going to focus on that.

Reader
Fisty

As soon as you uninstall them, you’ll be like, “hey, I wonder what they’re doing over there”. If you’re unlucky, DDO will be the game and you wait 2 days for the download.
