The Stream Team: Getting done with Warframe’s Deadlock Protocol, day 3
With Warframe’s TennoCon 2020 coming tomorrow, Massively OP’s MJ wants to work on completing Deadlock Protocol before the big announcement of what’s on the horizon. With luck, she leveled her Xoris enough to help complete this story mission series and find out why she was “summoned” there. And who doesn’t want to completely thwart Nef Anyo as a bonus? Tune in live at 8:00 p.m. for the conclusion of this arc — if she can survive enough to get to the end!

What: Warframe
Who: MJ Guthrie
When: 8:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, July 31st, 2020

The show is over now, but we’ve embedded it here just for you. Don’t forget to check out our past streams and videos collection, and stay tuned for our next show!

On the Warframe Forums, in the “Missions & Levels” topic, I have posted a short set of tips on how I did this fight at MR6.

The post is titled “The Deadlock Protocol Protea Fight At MR6”

I am sure there are lots of ways to do this fight. This was just mine at a pretty standard low MR gear set.

Have a look if you are having trouble with this fight. :)

With a super-tanky ‘frame and a gun (Rattleguts machine-pistol specced for magnetic damage) able to take down her shield very fast, the Protea fight took me under 10 minutes first try. I agree with Ember that her shield regenerates too fast for people who don’t have a thorough understanding of the game’s damage types and go in with a specific anti-Corpus build, but overall I think the mission design is ok.

I still haven’t gotten all the parts for Protea though because of how much I dislike the post-mission version of the Granum Void, the time limit is so tight that I find it the opposite of fun – and though I’ve now put together a Volt build which trivialises the first two tiers of it, the third tier is considerably tougher. But yesterday I finally got the Transient Fortitude corrupted mod I’ve been farming Derelict Vaults for, so am going to put together some new builds for a few ‘frames and try those out…

I got through the fight on the first try, but I still think it’s a very frustrating mission. The design is (to me) counter intuitive. They tell you that you need to use the Xoris to destroy specters, and air-bursting the glaive wrecks them. But you really DON’T want to use the detonations on the specters, because you need to have one ready when Protea starts to rewind time. I think her shield regeneration is also a bit over-tuned – they start to recharge too quickly, and refill too fast. They literally reset faster than the reload of a fair number of weapons.

I think that the detonate instruction was to inform of a fast way to get the pips. But you are correct, once you have the pips, time to go after Protea. :)

I have found that many of the fights have specific frames, weapons, loadouts that they are tuned for. The Protea fight, in my opinion, is tuned for Rapid Fire, High Magazine, High Ammo Capacity ranged weapons. Soma (and Soma Prime, of course) is great for this fight. But I bet it can be done with a bog standard Braton if modded for reload time, magazine capacity, and ammo capacity (along with Magnetic damage). :)
