Shh, don’t worry. We won’t spoil your deepest, darkest secret — you know, the one about how you’re actually still kind of interested in Diablo Immortal, even though it’s the whipping boy of the Blizzard community. We wouldn’t dream of exposing that the thought of playing Diablo on your phone (yes, a phone!) has appeal. You keep up the crusty cynical look, and we’ll just post this new ChinaJoy 2020 trailer for you to openly mock but secretly admire.
Well, it’s not actually “new,” per se. Blizzard Watch noted how this is essentially the same BlizzCon 2018 trailer with more detailed class models, a few other tweaks, a glimpse at the UI, and the reveal of what might be Baal at the end.
Diablo Immortal is a joint project between Blizzard and NetEase. Give it a watch and let us know what you think:
👄
I’m still interested in this game. I can totally see myself playing this during my lunch breaks at work.
I still don’t have a phone for this. This isn’t worth me getting a phone for this.
Even if I had a phone for this, I doubt I’d want this thing.
I already find myself wishing for larger view areas and more screen space in games of this design, I can’t imagine that would improve on a phone.
A poorly made game that is a cash grab with bad monetization, and you think I’m going to be interested… you really don’t know me, do you?
Why wouldn’t I just play a better game of similar design on something other than a phone?
*A short excerpt from ‘Robert’s 1001 reasons why he won’t be playing Diablo Immortal’.*
The only action games I ever found the touch screen controls halfway passable were the two Zelda games for the DS, and even then I would have vastly preferred to play them with traditional controls.
Also, I don’t play on my phone games that require Internet connection.
So, no. The only way to get me even slightly interested would be to release a PC or Switch version, and even then I would have big reservations about it due to it starting as a F2P game made in partnership with one of the companies with the most odious (and, unfortunately, effective) monetization practices in the whole industry.
Shite.
I’m interested in Diablo Immortal the same way I’m interested in Star Citizen. Where the heck is my popcorn?
Waiting for that autoplay to rear its ugly head
Cut the condescending intros. Thanks.
+1.
Unless, you know, what they REALLY want is us making condescending remarks about being bought and paid for by smartphone manufacturers or something. Maybe that’s the goal behind this malicious and false nonsense?
The game isn’t even being made by Blizzard, we all saw what happened when WC3 was out sourced.
Yeah, I have had zero interest in this one since the announcement. I haven’t touched Diablo 3 in a long time and that game is at least decent. I do have some phone games but they’re mostly board game apps like Onirim and Small World.
I’m not even interested in Diablo 4 anymore, much less this thing.
