Cyberpunk 2077 details character life paths and a variety of weapons in new trailers

Cyberpunk 2077, the upcoming RPG from CD Projekt Red, had another Night City Wire video digest full of additional gameplay details. In this episode, the devs took a closer look at how character origins steer the game, offered a peek at several weapons in action, and took a moment to discuss bringing an in-game band to life, interspersed with three separate videos covering each individual topic.

Regarding lifepaths, each one provides both a unique introduction to Night City for player characters while also promising to have character origin influence the overall narrative, mostly with additional dialogue options.

In terms of weaponry, there are a variety of options from high-tech cyberware to good old-fashioned guns and melee weapons. There are three different types of guns: power weapons, tech weapons, and smart weapons, with rarities ranging from common to legendary. Power weapons are more conventional types of firearms that can richochet bullets off of surfaces; tech weapons have electronics that accelerate projectiles through walls and cover; and smart weapons utilize guided missile tech to arc bullets towards a tracked target. As far as the RPG elements of gunplay, character progress will see increased accuracy, faster reload times, and faster movement and ironsight aiming.

Finally, there’s a look at how Swedish hardcore punk group Refused worked with the devs to make the in-game band Samurai, including using the band’s lead vocalist as an NPC in the game and the challenges of having musicians write music for and play as other musicians.

There’s a lot of video footage to absorb, so get your favorite trailer watching snacks ready and check out the four embeds below.

Amazingly pumped for this. And with the delay to Bloodlines 2 I can take my sweet time.

I had this preordered the literal minute it was available to be preordered. A) It’s Cd Project Red so I have high confidence in their skills, production qualities and ability to craft good stories. B) Mike Pondsmith was involved the guy who wrote and created Cyberpunk 2020 the PnP RPG upon which this is based. C) It’s based on a PnP RPG I am familiar with and ran for years.

Stoked, can’t wait! :)

Funny af when i mentioned 2077 to a buddy at work, he for the first bit thought i was talking about the PnP which i had zero clue existed! Was interesting moment when we were trying to align what the F each of us was talking about. Nutshell, he was as stoked as well.

I’ve been looking forward to this for sometime now but gotta say i’m a tad worried. I’m buying it no question, but lately no single player games are clicking for me, red dead thought would be a slam dunk when arrived on pc and yeah, no! Progression is my vice.

Even if i enjoy it for a couple hours to start i think it’ll be on the drive for a long time to come for those “rainy” days or when in the mood.

What’s going to be interesting is 2077 and Shadowlands will be dropping around the same time. Might be the first time peeps be like a wow expansion dropped umm who cares 2077 is here! Kinda curious how blizz will try and draw players attention away from this one as they famously do with all big name games.

Cyber punk is a MMO?

Multiplayer, as the tag says. CD Projekt Red have gone on multiple times to say they’ll be doing a multiplayer mode for the game, as well as the fact it will follow the releases of both the game and its main DLC.

No, but the hype train for Cyberpunk is so out of control that it breaks through all coverage barriers.
