Pagan Online rebrands as Pagan: Absent Gods after jettisoning multiplayer

If it escaped your attention last month, Pagan Online is, well, no longer online. Studio Mad Head said that the multiplayer servers were “not sustainable” and that it didn’t have plans to add more content in any case, especially once it was cut loose from Wargaming’s publishing arm.

Now, Mad Head has rebranded the action RPG as Pagan: Absent Gods and brought it back to Steam as an exclusive title for that platform. While the title will normally go for $20, you can pick it up for $14 from now through August 26th.

“It is time for you to meet Pagan: Absent Gods! The single-player game will include all of the elements of Pagan Online, besides the multiplayer mode and its supporting servers. However, the breath and the scope of the game will remain the same,” the studio said.

Reviews on Steam, however, are largely negative, owing to the fact that original buyers feel lied to, since they bought a very different game – one we rather liked, to boot.
