Ghost of Tsushima is getting a co-op mode added with a free expansion

Enjoying traipsing about Japan in Ghost of Tsushima but wish you could do so with your buddy, Ninja Rick? The bad news is that you will not be able to do so in the main game, which remains relentlessly single-player. The good news is that the upcoming free expansion, Legends, will allow you to team up into groups of four as you hunt down new supernatural Japanese monsters like Oni in a new multiplayer mode.

Players in multiplayer will have four different class options and will be able to clear story missions, take on waves of enemies, and even take on a major coordinated raid of some sort. There’s no release date just yet, but anyone who has enjoyed the game thus far will likely be eager for a chance to experience it in a new fashion altogether. Check out the trailer just below and get ready for hunting demons with your friends.

This is a strange one to me. GoT is such a huge single player experience that I am enjoying and expect to be for quite a while. There is a lot of game to be had here all single player.

So for the first post game content to pivot to multiplayer is just odd to me. Don’t get me wrong nothing against multiplayer and I imagine folks who are into this will have fun with it, assuming no major goofs.

Still I hope this is not the only post game content that Sucker Punch are going to release. There is a huge scope for more stories to be told in this wonderfully realised world.

It’s great that this is free content and I hope folk who are into co-op have fun with it. Personally I would love more single player content and I would be willing to pay for story dlc too.

I agree. I absolutely loved this game. Got the platinum trophy, something I almost never bother to do. But multiplayer is not at all the direction I want to see from this game. They should just focus on improving the single-player experience.

I expect all the late PS4 Sony published games are important to Sony’s PS5 plans and will get content until late next year at least. Some of that could be in the form of standalone smaller titles like Last of Us’ Left Behind, but that still generates and builds upon interest in those titles.

Next gen looks like it is going to have a serious “AAA” software shortage so platform holders are going to make a lot of noise about bumping resolution and framerates of last-gen games.

If multiplayer happens to take off hopefully they can have their own team working on the separate multiplayer game while people work on proper single player content.
