Starbase previews fleet PvP tourney video, works on player progression and exploration design

It’s been months since we checked in on Starbase directly rather in our weekly roundup, so we’re going to do just that today and bump it back up to the attention of our readers. First announced last year by Finnish studio Frozenbyte, Starbase is the upcoming “massively multiplayer online game with gameplay focused on building and designing spaceships and stations, exploration, resource gathering, crafting, trading, and combat.” It’s currently in early access, with a release date still listed on Steam in 2020.

Since then, it’s been posting exhaustive progress notes every single week. The most recent – week 33 in 2020 – touches on changes to the in-testing quickbar, shipwrecks, beam welding, shops for player-made ships, and player-made stations. Plus? “Player progression and exploration design is underway.”

Notably, participants in the ongoing closed alpha are rolling through a fleet PvP tournament; the devs have posted a video including footage of one of the first matches, which we’ve included below.
