Realm of the Mad God introduces some deadly desert ruins as it preps to close its Flash client in September

Even if sand is coarse and rough and gets everywhere, there are bigger problems with the desert ruins area that was recently introduced to premadeath dungeon-crawling shooter MMO Realm of the Mad God. Things like monsters that would very much like to shoot your character down, thanks very much.

This new Ancient Ruins dungeon also provides a number of new item drops, while the update itself introduces several improvements to the game like a Crowded Visibility mode, a health bar for bosses, visible healing quantity from pet heals, and several other improvements and fixes.

One thing that cannot be fixed, however, is the game’s original Flash client, which is causing a lot of overhead for developer DECA Games when new features could instead be worked on. With that in mind, the devs have formally announced that Flash support will end on Wednesday, September 23rd, in order to fully focus on the Unity-powered Exalt version of the MMO. “As of now, 86% of players have transitioned over to Exalt as their primary platform,” reasons the announcement. “Flash served Realm of the Mad God well for a whole ten years now. From the game’s humble origins as a game jam creation to the vast, unique bullet-hell MMO it is today, Flash helped RotMG get off the ground and then some.”
