Shroud of the Avatar will add spawn functionality and customization to player town signposts

When is a sign more than a sign? When it doubles as a spawn location as well as a teleporter. That’s some of the duties that player-owned town signposts will soon be capable of in an upcoming update to Shroud of the Avatar.

In addition to letting players fast travel to other player-owned towns, these signposts can be designated as spawn locations for players to use, meaning that players can blip to any signposted location they want to. In addition, signposts can have custom names as well as custom colors, and their bases can be platforms for other decorations like books, lights, or notes. Furthermore, there’s currently no limit to the number of signposts town stewards can place; so long as one is willing to buy these signposts from the store, they can be slapped down willy-nilly by all accounts.

For those SOTA players who have bought in hard on the game to the point of owning a town, this is just another added level of customization and functionality. For others, though, it’s a potential reason to see the game’s physical rewards as firewood. That, of course, is up to players’ personal opinions.

What was the point of burning the physical rewards – a boycott? Nobody will care, and now you just lost the only actual physical value to your purchase/pledge.

I’ve watched a couple videos of people doing this…I think it’s an expression of their anger towards Richard Garriott for scamming them.

I still wonder if it was a scam or just incompetence. Dude has lost his magic.

I’d suggest that MOP publish more non-cash shop SotA content, but that is pretty much all the game is pumping out these days.

They should add the money that everyone wasted on this game back into their bank accounts.
