Champions Online and David Brevik pay their respects to Chadwick Boseman

You’ve no doubt seen the tragic news that Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman passed away on Friday at the age of 43 due to colon cancer. His family posted a statement thanking fans for their love and support, saying that Boseman had been battling cancer quietly since 2016 while continuing to film various projects.

Marvel Heroes creator David Brevik and Champions Online both echoed the shock and loss of the wider community, taking to Twitter to post their respects:

A bright star that burned out far too quickly. Life can be heartless and cruel as 2020 is repeatedly showing us. He was a monumental star but a caring human being as well. Prayers to his family and loved ones.

Rest in Power is a great way of sending someone off.

Bye, Chad. Roar from the heavens for all of us.

My heart absolutely breaks for all those excited little kids I saw who were so happy to see a world-class awesome superhero who was dark-skinned like them.

Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther was a hero for all of us, of course, but the actor embodied that message of “you can be a hero too”, “you can be a good guy too” for the wee ones at an age when they really can gain strength and joy from realizing those truths.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Boseman. You were so valiant fighting that despicable monster, cancer.

You played a King, and you were a King.

Thank you, sir.

This timeline sucks. He meant so much to so many people, I don’t think anyone could have asked for a better legacy in such a relatively short amount of time. The man was a huge talent, and hopefully, an inspiration.
