Japanese survivalbox Craftopia is set to launch early access on Friday

All summer, we’ve been keeping watch over Craftopia, a Japanese multiplayer “open world survival crafting game,” and I think it would be fair to say that its testing and release schedule has been a bit slapdash. Early access was originally supposed to land in June, but then the closed alpha didn’t actually start until July, and the results from that test pushed off the early access yet again. But apparently, we are go for launch now, as the early access is definitely happening at the crack of dawn on September 4th. In case you’ve forgotten the pitch:

“Craftopia is the brand new multiplayer open-world survival action game. We have imagined what would happen when we combine our favorite video games altogether. Chop trees and mine stones as in sandbox, explore the world as in open-world, fight the hunger as in survival, cultivate and harvest as in farming, collect loots in dungeons as in hack-and-slash, automate activities as in factory management, hunt monsters and creatures as in hunting action, cast magical spells as in fantasy RPG. Now we have a utopia for all of us. That is Craftopia.”

Do note that we don’t know how much it’s going to cost just yet. “Craftopia may be priced higher when it is officially released,” the devs at Pocket Pair note on Steam. “However, all content will be available during Early Access!”

I looked at this on steam a month or so ago and it looks interesting. That said, I didn’t bite the bullet and actually buy it but I did wishlist it lol.

The description of this game certainly has me curious. Farm sim! Survival! Factory sim! Dungeon delving! Hack n Slash!

I’m in.

A lot of the models look ripped from other games. Not sure if that’s a good sign.
