The dawn of another season in Diablo III will soon be upon us, but before that is the daybreak of an upcoming PTR session to test out the next season’s content as well as a variety of legendary and item set changes that are planned.

This round of testing will happen in two waves, with the first starting on October 1st and the second kicking off on October 8th. Phase one will focus on a variety of item changes as well as a new item along with a host of class changes. To that point, the devs are asking PTR participants to focus feedback on the Wizard’s Etched Sigils and Hydras, the Crusader’s Steed Charge build, and the Witch Doctor’s Crazy Chicken build, while legendary and blood shard drop rates will be boosted in the test build in order for players to more effectively provide item tweak feedback.

During phase two, testing will focus on the Shadows of the Past season, which will see a shadow clone of a player’s chosen class summoned to fight alongside them whenever a shrine or pylon is activated. The clone’s power will scale with character level and will follow for one minute or until the character dies, whichever comes first. The patch notes post provides more specifics on shadow clone skills and item changes.
