Everything about Star Citizen baffles me. It’s like the Scientology of video games.
I have never finished a Rockstar game. Invariably there’s a quest that for whatever reason is beyond my skill and patience to complete. Doing some stupid task over and over and over again while being told that I’m doing it wrong is too close to my real-life job, for which I’m thankfully overpaid.
O’Delay-a?
I plan on painting the nails red on a Pinhead costume, and going as COVID-raiser.
I was going to save this for a comment to the next battle bards, but you’re also talking about it here in a wider variety of contexts.
With the new STO patch, you got not just an episode but a TFO. It is one of the worst things I have ever played in a game. I actually like how STO displays critical UI elements, especially in their newer content, but this particular TFO vomits visual nonsense all over the screen. You have a dozen or more circles highlighting where to go, a larger battle royale style shrinking circle delineating the safe play area, a vertical grid, red explosion circles on the planet below, and crew/transport icons basically everywhere including a large one permanently over your ship. Plus there are tons of enemies so you get giant long lines of phaser fire all over the place. It is a mess. And all of that is on top of the game’s normal UI.
With the graphics out of the way, how about that music! It is also literally the absolute worst soundtrack I have ever heard in any game. Now, I’m willing to give it some leeway because the TFO is called “Synth Wave” and it’s based on some classical music and they’re almost certainly going for some sort of pun. But a nice pun and a cover of some good music will only go so far. It is blaring and atonal. It is the worst thing to happen to star trek music since “Aktuh and Maylota” (https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Aktuh_and_Maylota)
Now, none of this would be so bad except the TFO is part of the game’s new event where you play for 20 days to get some reward. Playing this once is fine. Expecting people to endure all of this for 20 days or more is a sick joke. Perhaps it is intended to drive people mad just in time for Halloween?
So is this rage quit worthy? No… because rewards. But it does seem to be asking a lot of people, and there is only so much eye twitching and eardrum buckling you can take. Even after turning the game sound off to watch tv, other music or a nice podcast you can still hear it tapping at your chamber door. Anyway, when I heard this I thought of Battle Bards, and it is probably relevant to Justin’s interests as he plays the game from time to time.
If you don’t have friends that let you take screenshots while playing, you have the wrong friends.
I don’t think I’ve ever decisively quit a game.
It’s more like: not having fun, so I don’t log in that day and I do something else instead. Same thing happens the next day, and the next, until I realize I’m not actually playing it anymore.
More of a drifting away than a rage quit. I don’t think I’ve ever consciously chosen not to ever log in again – it just sort of happened naturally as I moved on to other things.
OMG Justin….the block editor for WordPress….HATE IT! I sobbed over that thing all summer. Alas….it is a done deal.
I have definitely quit certain dungeons. If you are still at the second boss after 2-3 hours…yeah sorry, I’m out.
I’ve never rage quit. My leaving MMOs was either cumulative disappointments leading to the final log out, or just plain out old not logging in because it wasn’t fun.
Better run through the jungle ..
Apt headline. And you have voicemail?!
FFXIV tourist mode almost made me subscribe again, i watched a video for the new patch and the tourist mode is just for dungeons in 5.x, any old dungeon or raids won’t get this feature, and that’s unfortunate, this is another case of a new feature for new content, making it work on old content require a lot of work, so i understand why they didn’t do it.
This is not the first voice mail, first one was in early episodes, i don’t remember which one or what the question was, i remember the person recorded his voice while driving a car :-)
Oooh yes I do remember that one now! OK, I’m not entirely losing my mind. :D
