World of Warcraft launches the Shadowlands pre-patch today

As of today, World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth is over, because the Shadowlands pre-patch for the game has finally released! And there was much rejoicing. This means that the level squish will be in place, players will have access to several un-pruned abilities, new customization options, Chromie Time, and so forth. There’s a whole lot of stuff, so you should catch up on the patch notes if you missed some of it in the delirium of just being glad it’s no longer BfA all over. You’ll have time, too, as the game’s weekly maintenance will last until 6:00 p.m. EDT as of this writing.

For those of you who want more catching up, we’ve got a roundup recapping more about the pre-patch leading up to today’s launch. For those of you mostly looking forward to the new Shadowlands release date, we don’t have that, but we do have the expansion trailer upscaled to 4k resolution and 48 FPS thanks to YouTuber SnazzyAI. That’s still fun, right?

Update
Maintenance has been extended another hour, unfortunately.

Update
And it’s up!

Well, I (EU side) managed to update and log in this morning, no problem. I even quit to update my graphics drivers(!), and logged back in again no problem. Played for a couple of hours, and now – problems! Never mind, I expected this. My earlier play time was just a nice bonus. :D

Having spent the last week riding around Mechagon on my Mechanocat, I would say that us gnomies have come out on top of this one. :D

Just because they say it’s live doesn’t mean you’ll be able to get in. Seems like most if not all people are getting disconnected from the server as soon as the realm pops up to begin populating the character screen.

I’m going to have to wait until November to play. Hopefully, I’ll be able to catch the Scourge Rising.

The pigtails are very nervous about this. That is, they don’t want to end up Khadgar Server’d, among other things… >.<

Update: It’s been down loaded and the addons have been updated. Now all I have to do is wait till doors open in 20 minutes of writing this, assuming there is no further extension in the maintenance window.

Update #2: Welp, as the official update says, servers are up as of typing this…but good luck trying getting in, lol. Numerous issues! And that’s getting to the character screen once you can…

…so I’m going over play B&S for awhile. /sheeesh

I’ll wait to resub until tomorrow the earliest knowing how maintenance times and bugs usually go for this kind of thing.

Dug From The Earth

todays check list:

1. Update my addons

2. Go through all my characters and look at all the various new customization options (ive got lots of alts)

3. Get on a couple of my mains and try to run heroic Legion dungeons for transmogs to see if they are still soloable.

4. Make the new fox character ive been holding out on to play through the new starting experience and the new leveling experience.

That should keep me occupied until the actual prepatch events get released in the future. If not, there is always Grim Dawn.
