From what I’m to understand. This game lost alot of funding and switched from mmo to single player with co-op over its development course as a one off game. From what I read about the beta testers, they said it was about as shallow as it comes. I was extremely looking forward to this game so it’s a shame they had to cut corners and wrap it up for a quick cash grab release.

I tried to get into TL3. I tried hard. I did not succeed.

The available characters just aren’t interesting. Aside from a mage and an archer, the other archetypes are some weird things…

Where is the generic warrior? Where is the generic healer? Where is the generic thief? I don’t want to play with some medieval walking stove wielding a sword or some “Railmaster” or whatever it was.

It’s like they tried so hard to make the characters look and feel unique that they made it boring by not including basic character archetypes, like a warrior or a healer.

Even Path of Exile, has like 3-4 different warrior types of characters, each with their own perks:

– Shadow – a stealthy/rogue/magic type of warrior
– Duelist – a pure damage-oriented warrior
– Marauder – tanky warrior
– Templar – magic-oriented warrior
– Scion – that can be anything you want it to be

Torchlight 3 is just a failure. I had more fun playing through TL1 and TL2, but I did at a time where I would never go back to them, but the experience was still very much fun. TL1 was like Diablo 1 in terms of environments and only delving deeper into the ground, TL2 was like Diablo 2 where you travel the world and explore the various biomes, but TL3 somehow feels like Diablo 3 to me – the time when they lost their way and it just isn’t as fun as before. Most people I know that grew up with Diablo 2, never liked Diablo 3 and most of them don’t even consider it a Diablo game.

this is basically the way torchlight 2 was so it isn’t much different. I mean the railmaster is literally a reworked version of T2’s engineer.
