ArenaNet confirms that work on improving Guild Wars 2 latency is still ongoing

If your Guild Wars 2 experience has been sub-optimal, the somewhat heartening news has been that ArenaNet is aware and working on it, as evidenced by a forum post in August. Unfortunately, the alluded-to long road of work doesn’t appear to have an end in immediate sight according to an update post this past Friday.

“We’ve made a number of changes that have improved general performance, but as we mentioned in our previous update, there are a lot of factors that cause lag and our changes haven’t had the impact we were hoping for,” elaborates the post. “We know the persistent issues are frustrating and we want them improved as much as you do, so we’re now looking into bigger changes with broader impact on the problem. These changes take longer to test and implement, and we appreciate your patience as we continue working on solutions.”

In the meantime, ANet is asking players to continue to file reports when experiencing latency problems, as they help the devs in their investigations. Just understand that you’ll have to be filing those reports for an indeterminate length of time.

I’m just sick and tired of emailing support every other day to unlock my account because it’s constantly getting caught in their security scan and they won’t do anything to stop it.

I’ve been caught 7 times in 2 weeks. It’s screwing up my dailies and Halloween event. Support can take anywhere from 4 hours to 2 days to respond and remove the block placed on my account, but they refuse to address the issue and refuse to give me any information on why.

My friends are getting caught in the security scans too and they get the same non-answers from support that do absolutely nothing to solve whatever underlying problem is getting our accounts flagged.

Im sick and tired of this, for the amount of money I’ve paid for this account they should provide better support than this.

it’s been *REALLY* laggy lately for some odd reason and we have AT&T Fiber internet, so I know it’s not the connection. No lag anywhere else.

I’m playing from Mexico, with a crappy adsl internet (my internet company doesn’t want to invest in optic fiber it seems), with a low budget PC… And I have no lag.
That makes me think the problem is really complex.

It’s odd. I play from NZ, the literal ass end of the world, and teh game has no lag whatsoever, on any map.

I have only seen one person say they were leaving – and she didn’t work on GW2.

It wasn’t like the previous occasion, where their were any number of tweets saying goodbye and the like. Their is her and some other guy that doesn’t work there.

Yeah, like I said, one woman. And some guy who doesn’t work there.

There has been no other people identified or spoken out.

And she doesn’t work on GW2.
