Guild Wars 2 teases November 17 ‘Truce’ living world content chapter with brand-new trailer
As promised, Guild Wars 2 has dropped the new trailer for its next chapter, The Icebrood Saga: Champions, Chapter 1: Truce. Is it possible to have too many colons in a title? Should we just call a truce and call this one just Truce? Let’s do it. And yes, last week, ArenaNet postponed its Steam launch and gave players a full look at what to expect from the chapter releases through next spring; Truce lands on November 17th, followed by additional legs of the episode in January, March, and May.

“The beginning of the final arc of The Icebrood Saga begins Thursday, November 17, with the first of four chapters, titled Truce. In light of the threat posed by Jormag and the icebrood, a new, more prominent enemy stirs beneath Tyria as the forces of fire and conflagration emerge with the elder dragon Primordus at their head. To prevent widespread calamity throughout the world, new replayable Dragon Response Missions give players a way to combat Primordus’ destruction on behalf of the inhabitants of Tyria. Allied recruitable factions and a new Dragon Slayer Mastery provide additional boons and abilities to tackle the challenges the elder dragon presents, while Dragon Slayer and Volcanic Stormcaller weapon skins reward the bold and new story missions will drive toward the saga’s epic conclusion.”

The official landing page for the chapter has even more details on the new missions, faction mechanics, and new mastery track, and of course it reiterates the welcome news that voice acting will be ported into the last two episodes along with the release. The trailer is down below along with the new screenies too.

Just started to redownload the game, want to make sure I have the current episode unlocked; besides my wife was asking what MMOs and games she has that doesn’t have a sub so GW2 might become an active game for me soon perhaps.

Weren’t they aiming to have voice acting for the prior chapters launch with this as well? Or is that slated for a later date?
I’m eager to return to Tyria, but I’ve been holding off until the voices were patched in.

The voice acting is slated for this November 17th release. Below is quoted from the official release page on the GW2 website.

Voice Acting in ‘No Quarter’ and ‘Jormag Rising’
It’s a great time to catch up on The Icebrood Saga! We’ve added voiced dialogue to the two episodes that were impacted by COVID-19 safety measures. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we worked on a new process to keep our staff and voice talent healthy.

It doesn’t sound like much. If the update relies heavily on the missions as the main focus, they better be designed very well.

I mean, it’s one thing that they decided to split the final into 4 (or so) different patches, but it’s kind of unconvincing to see what we actually get. A possibly zerg event on an old map and a story dungeon on an old map?
It’s all well and good if they have decided to include every possible developer in the next expansion, but when you have to gut your living world team so much…
