Lord of the Rings Online tests a major PvP monster play balance pass

Lord of the Rings Online’s unique PvP scene — which is called PvMP or “monster play” — is one of the more underdeveloped and underpopulated parts of the game, a fact which makes its players touchy and starved for love. They better prepare themselves for a big, hairy hug, then, because Update 28.2 is finally bringing a host of changes and improvements to that scene.

The patch, which is currently on the test realm, is centered around a PvMP balance pass, including “major changes to how monster player stats are wired up behind the scenes to make them advance more consistently with player stats when we level bump or generally restat the game, AND to allow us to easily give Creeps incremental ratings bumps to keep pace with player itemization over the course of a full level cap cycle.”

It will also help Creeps (monster characters) scale their damage and health to match the latest level of regular player gear with each new patch.

The game is also releasing a smaller update today to fix an issue with mission timers and help Beornings not walk around as if they were constantly drunk on honey mead.
