World of Warcraft preps a Shadowlands launch test for Friday

The hype is very, very real for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands right now, especially with a release candidate prepared and the pre-expansion event infecting all of the game’s live servers. However, there’s still a stretch to go, giving Blizzard time to get ready for the big day. To help with that, the studio is putting together a launch test for this Friday the 13th.

The two-hour launch test will take place on the Torghast beta server and is focused on “setting the conditions for the Shadowlands launch and test the transition from Battle for Azeroth to Shadowlands.”

When you have some personal downtime over the next week, you may want to check out what Outland’s zones would look like in Unreal Engine 4 (as created by Blizzard Lighting Artist Mike Marra) and take a tongue-in-cheek tour of Shadowlands’ fauna with animal documentarian Nikolai Drozdov:

Have you READ the comments re the pre-launch event?

I tend not to wade into the toxic Blizzard forums much but let’ s just say that the tenor of the comments re the events, the bugginess, the lagginess, the rather “ho hum” nature of the event generally all left commenters was substantially negative.

Put it this way, if they put the same lowball effort into SL as they did the pre-launch event…yeah, good luck SL.

If you waded in much, you’d know that’s the norm. I remember sentiments in the days of Burning Crusade. Wasn’t really different.

The forums only contain negative feedback. The level squish also got lots of negative posts on the forums and that is the best thing to happen to the game in 10 years IMO. I haven’t had the chance to play the prepatch because I am playing Valhalla but I am sure it is fine like every other prepatch. You generally get about 2 hours of content that gets you ready for the next expac.
