The Daily Grind: What was the best Guild Wars 2 living world season?

14

To date, there have been approximately five Guild Wars 2 living world seasons. Technically, The Icebrood Saga, which began last year, isn’t a season, but it’s close enough for Daily Grind purposes. And of course, the very first season, which was very event-focused rather than map-focused, is no longer fully playable. But I bet a lot of you played them and have opinions anyway.

The season that had my attention the most was season 3, which took the player from the Bloodstone Fen to Siren’s Landing. I liked it enough to finish it and bring alts back to some of the zones to farm it. I didn’t finish season 4, not even close, but I enjoyed what I did play. To me, those arcs were when the living story really hit its stride. Season 1 was fun, but the lack of replayability makes it hard to cheer for.

What would you say has been the best Guild Wars 2 living world season, and why?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

It was Scarlett’s attack on Black Lion’s Arch, the raid which I thankfully completed. This time limited raid required three groups to occupy three nodes, then a fourth opened as a portal to quell the mad queens plot

This was my favorite, too!

easy answer: Season 4

Season Two was my favorite.
You got a lot of interaction with the whole crew of characters, where later chapters tend to only focus on a smaller handful at a time.

Fortunately, Taimi is almost always one of the main characters – so as long as she’s around, they’re all the best!

I’d be more inclined to ask which was the least annoying to play through. Which one had the White Mantle boss fight in the basement of his mansion, Season 2? That sticks in my head as being straight up the most aggravating piece of game design ever. Still haven’t finished to this day.

Axetwin .

That was Season 3, I believe.

yeah that’s S3, but I didn’t think that fight was that hard really… done it multiple times now. o.O

Season 4. Its story was interesting and moved things forward. It added new maps with replayability. Plus they added new mounts and mount masteries.

I enjoyed the Lion’s Arch invasion a lot, but to be truthful I haven’t played most of the LW stuff since then so I wouldn’t know.

Season 4 if you focus on the content season 4 had the best story I mean for goodness sakes they almost tried to destroy the bloody world.

Launch. Before any expansion that changed what the classes were originally.

Season 1 is what started pushing me away from GW2. Not due to any issue with the content per see, but because it was time-limited and not replayable.

End result, I skipped Season 1 because I utterly hate having to play on a schedule, skipped all of the later seasons because I prefer to play everything in order and Season 1 wasn’t available anymore, and finally left for good when raids were added to the game.
