War Thunder releases the New Power update, World of Tanks lands on next-gen consoles via backwards compatibility

Both of the big-name vehicular multiplayer combat titles have some big updates for their players. War Thunder has released its New Power update, while World of Tanks Console is touting its backwards compatibility with the newly-launched PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The New Power update has introduced a visual rehaul for War Thunder, with better overall visuals, new visual effects for explosions, and new physics for fires and aircraft destruction. The update is also introducing the first VTOL aircraft to the game, 14 new tanks including the T-90A, and the addition of Dreadnoughts as well as a refactoring of naval progression. Full patch notes for this update are available for your perusal.

Meanwhile over on WoT Console, the game is playable on the new PS5 and Xbox Series X and S thanks to backwards compatibility features. The game’s latest announcement points to a number of benefits for new console owners to play the game, including faster load times, more stable and higher frame rates, higher resolution, and better input latency. In addition, the backwards compatible versions of WoT Console will also be cross-platform with the PS4 and Xbox One.
